Small loop in front part of campground with level sites and cement pads. Somewhat close to each other no privacy but clean and level. The rest of campground sites more private but many unlevel.
Very beautiful area.No attaching hoses for water. Wood from host no hookups.

Love this campground in the forested area sites 20-27. No hookups. Great for tents and small trailers. Lots of space with a creek running through the middle. The campground is well maintained and the vault toilets are very clean. Columbine Trail is one of my favorite hikes in the area. Perfect location from which to explore Red River and Questa.

Quiet. Bathroom smell only when campground is largely occupied . The upper camps are nice but some are small. Bring your own firewood evenings are chilly. Solar, 100 watt panel 30 to 40%. Cloudy most days we stayed there.

We stayed in site 14. Pretty easy leveling. Site 14 is narrow as are others. Just enough room for the rig and chairs on the asphalt. Ground drops off quickly on the passenger side. Table and fire ring about 30 feet from the pad and the creek another 100 feet. Creek drowns out road noise. I was able to get good Internet on my iPad using AT&T. 3 bars and as high a 13Mbs. Great hiking trail from the campground. Definitely would go back again. Sites 15 and 23 2would be my other choices. 23 is a first come first serve site only.

This is an excellent campground at about 7,900ft in the mountains outside of Taos In the Carson National Forest. There is a small river running through the campground and a nice trailhead.
A few things to note about this campground- although it is a National Forest it is run by a 3rd party. There is no dump station, and although there is plenty of water spigots, the spigots cannot connect a hose to fill up an RV fresh water tank. You will need to fill a bucket, or a jug with water and gravity fill your tank as needed. It might make it a little harder for long-term camping.
The sites in the loop at the front of the campground are quite small.
For the FF sites, the park hosts only accept cash or check with proper ID and such.

I stayed here last year and enjoyed the campground I decided to return again this summer. As I was prepared for this campground I want to redo the review!
This is a great campground nestled in the Carson National Forest between Red River and Questa. This place is about 30 minutes from the BLM Rio Grande Del Norte National Monument. Great location. It is also at the trailhead of the Columbine trail which is a great trail. The campsite is in the forest which is a plus!
The campground was quiet and not full and everyone, including the hosts were super friendly!
Now for the need to know before you go -
This site is in the NFS and managed by a 3rd party. It has water - but the water can’t be connected to a hose so be prepared to gravity fill any tank you have. They have very clean pit toilets. There is no dump station on site - but you can dump for $5 at the near by Red River Water Reclamation Facility, or at a RV park in Questa for $10 and fill your fresh tank for another $10. If you go to the Wild Rivers Rec area in the Rio Grande Del Norte you can fill your tanks for free there

Clean and quiet campground in beautiful forested area. Decent spacing and screening between campsites on the large loop. Some of the campsites have access to creeks that runs through middle of large loop. Trail head for very long trail at end of large loop.
No TMobile service in campground or within the first few miles of trail.
