Confirmed by 12 users | Last reported on January 26, 2024We have stayed in the same spot off Plomosa road for the past 3 years. We like being further away from Q, and would rather camp on our own than surrounded by other people. Plomosa road is a good spot to find that. The roads that we have been on are all pretty big rig friendly. If you want to be around other campers, the west end of the road has a large 14 day designated place where a ton of people camp. Flat, and easy access. Q is always fun in January when all the swapmeets are happening.

Came to Quartzsite for our first time for the 'big show', and because friends were already in the area - we landed here. And so glad we did! The area is gorgeous and plenty of room... close enough to town that it's easy to get in out and, but far enough away to forget you're close to so much overcrowded chaos during the big events.
Loved the dark rock everywhere, which reduced the dust around. Good amount of vegetation too. You can find space to yourself here, or great group camping areas too.
Had excellent cell signal on Verizon and AT&T.

This is our favorite spot around Quartzsite. A little farther out of town, the ground has more rock so it less dusty, less people stay out here because there are no utilities close by and it's farther away from town. But it still gets busy during big events. We like it best in the shoulder seasons and have many times camped with no one within a mile of us.

We were here in late November and it is pretty much dead quiet. Plomosa Rd itself is freshly paved and in perfect condition. The road is over 20 miles long and with the exception of a small piece in the hills it is mostly campable. There are hundreds of sites to be had although that will probably change at the end of January when the big show starts. For now it is peaceful and pretty. Dump stations, water and LP are available at the RV Pitstop just down the road and a Walmart up in Parker just north of here if you need it. With 4 bars of Verizon 4G we have everything we need

We came for Quartzsite show January 2017. We enjoyed boondocking and had No neighbors ( Although we had to go further back in the preserve)!! Had a chance to let the dogs play a bit. Weather was totally good but not totally bad either. The wind was worse this year.
Rangers and staff were very friendly.
Bad...Very loud generators throughout the place and running 24/7 seemed like.
Wifi on Verizon was good and T Mobile was ok.
We won't be going back for 2018 but maybe a different year.

We were on our way to Phoenix so stopped for a night which ended up being 2 nights. Would have loved to stay longer but had things to do and people to see. We stayed early January. Weather was awesome. Paved road has camping on both sides and you find a good turn off for your rig and find "a spot that looks like home" (as the camp host put it) and enjoy. No television signal from our RV antenna, but we were able to watch Netflix from AT&T no problem. T-Mobile streaming didn't work either.

We came in mid-February, so post-RV show. There were plenty of people but also plenty of space, so we were able to get a spot far, far away from everyone. The sunsets were incredible, the starry nights were incredible, and the peace and solitude was just what we needed. We were ready for new scenery once our permit ran out, but overall, we just loved the space we had here.
Minus some broken glass left behind, there were very few traces of other campers.

We have stayed here each of the past three years. It's convenient to Quartzsite and only 30 miles to Parker. We stay here for just 5-7 days because it's simply not private enough though much better than the other designated locations around Q.

This is your typical no-frills BLM camping area. This is a huge area so there is room to spread out some. We're here for the RV show and are totally amazed at just how many RV'ers are within a 10-mile radius of Quartzsite. This area is a flat rocky area which keeps the dust to a minimum. As the other campers have stated: the sunsets and night sky is nothing short of awesome! Wx has been good, tho it's usually a few degrees cooler than Yuma. Camp Host is pleasant and hasn't hassled us about having our dogs, not on a chain, though we do keep them in our camp. The last BLM we stayed at got us an ass chewing for not chaining the dogs even tho they were in our camping area. Sad. All in all, this is an excellent place to hang for a few days. South of town is some BLM's that have amenities close in their areas such as garbage, water, sewer dump. They charge $40 for 14 days. Between this BLM and town is a county refuse transfer station that is free to use. It's open Sunday thru Wednesday only, however.

Great spot! Lot's of space to spread out. It would be hard not to find a level place to park. The roads in, at least out around mile marker 2, are a bit rough. But there is plenty of places to park nearer Plomosa Road. Scout ahead! That's about the only bad thing we could say. And you can't beat the sunsets either. We'll be back!
