Confirmed by 1 users | Last reported on July 26, 2023I love Navarro Mills lake for the great fishing! I have been camping and fishing here since I was a small child and have many fond memories from this lake. Oak park is in my opinion the nicest park on the lake and highly recommend it
On our last visit we found the park to be very clean and well maintained. The staff was friendly and helpful.
I have posted a video about our visit on my YouTube and it can be found here...

Sites 1 - 5 slope downhill. Our 27’ fit at the top of the site, and still required two stacks of jack pads to get level. Although the site was 60’ in length, we left the tow vehicle at the curb to park level.
Any watch for wasps in the eclectically outlets.

Reserved a space online. When we arrived, we noticed that the site we reserved was always in full sun, which would have made it very difficult to keep our RV cool. We immediately drove back to the front desk and requested a different site. The front gate attendant said she could not make a change and said, “Good luck” when we said we’d try the website. Spent the next 2 hours on the website, trying to change our site, but this could not be done. Tried to use website chat - not working. Tried calling the customer service number, but they would not be available until 10am the next day. After checking the website, we noticed that the space next to ours had not been booked, so we decided to park there for the night (the park was almost empty) and settle everything in the morning. Around 8:30 the next morning, there was a man, yelling outside our RV. As I step out of the RV, he began to yell at me about how we were not parked in the correct space. I tried to explain to him that we would be working out a change as soon as customer service was open, but he became louder and even more belligerent. So much so, that my husband, who had been on a phone call inside the RV, came out to see what the commotion was. He told us that we had to moved immediately because he had someone coming to this site. (This was a complete lie, as we checked the website and the space was still available 2 hours later.) We did move immediately. We moved completely out of the park because we definitely did not feel like staying at this park after this encounter. We had paid for 3 nights, so when customer service opened, we called and requested a refund, which was denied (of course) by the park manager a couple of weeks later.

We took our grandson camping at Oak Park on the Navarro Mills Lake for Columbus Day weekend. The park had paved roads, a necessity for a five year-old bike rider, and decent bathrooms. Bathrooms (except at the swim area) were new and clean with showers. Playground was great as was the swim area. Beautiful lake for boating and fishing. However, our camp neighbors were loud and foul mouthed, and played their music at a decibel that prevented us from being able to have conversations with each other at our site. We asked the staff to talk to them about their behavior but were told they couldn’t do anything. Lazy and lacking a spine was our conclusion. We talked to the offensive neighbors ourselves, and, to their credit, they did turn the music down a bit. They were not the only guests who had loud music, they were just the ones closest to us. If you’re looking for a relaxing spot, this isn’t it.

Reserved on-line 184 days prior to arrival.
Pros
Site in large oak tree grove, so heavily shaded
Campground night sky friendly with good dark sky viewing
NO STREET LIGHTS in campground., but toilet facilities had exterior lighting
Crushed granite surrounding site and bordered with landscaping timbers
Metal roof shelter over concrete slab where picnic table is located
Metal picnic table
Cooking grill on metal fire ring
Campground mostly quiet except for Hwy 31 traffic noise
Friendly camp host
Security gate closed nightly
Not charged a fee to make my own on-line reservation
Campsite discount with America the Beautiful Pass
Cons
Entrance gate not manned upon arrival at 2pm Tuesday so had to go back around after unhitched
Our site 14 was not marked. Most sites have site number on site picnic table. Even those are tough to see in the daylight and impossible to see in darkness.
Absolutely no roadside site number posts
Campsite 14 entrance driveway was 90 degree angle to park road with a steep ditch on opposite side of road. Trees close on both sides tight to site 14 driveway. Made back in challenging, but not impossible.
Campsite 14 entrance/driveway 10% grade from park road
Campsite 14 not level side to side
Site fire ring was up against landscaping timber preventing space for chairs
Landscaping timbers created trip hazard. Fire ring should be relocated to side or back of site to facilitate safe movement around it
Fire ring was completely filled with ash upon arrival
No privacy from other campsites
Shower/toilet facility near playground had padlock on mens entrance, so males were using the womens restroom. This facility in extremely poor
condition and desperately needs renovation.
No campsite lantern pole
No park Wifi
2 bars AT&T
Never saw any park rangers or park security driving through campground
Wildlife sightings of grey squirrels and two dozen buzzards that constantly circled over campground

Two-night (Fri-Sat) stay in TT lot 18. We did not have a reservation prior to arrival. Park host was welcoming and accommodating. We were able to get a space very close to the water and still not sandwiched between other campers. Pads are long, but your rig will need some extensive leveling. Saw deer and many different bird species. There are a couple of options for limited groceries and supplies nearby, and Corsicana has HEB and Walmart only 20 miles away. All-in-all, a great experience and will be going back.
