This is no longer a state park but run by COE. Maintenance is fine. Most parks in Oklahoma need a reservation. My experience reserving fared better using a computer and not an ipad. Go to recreation.gov. This is an out of the way park. You might want to stop for groceries in Sand Springs or Mannford or Cleveland. Prue has a convenience store and a new Dollar General. My husband got catfish bait at the bait shop next to the Conoco at Prue exit. The road going to the gate house is QUITE bumpy, but the roads in the park are smooth. At this time only 50 or so pads are open at Hitching Post campground. Our site, number 14, was fine but no shade. Most sites did not have shade. The cove is sandy all around it and suitable to swim from any point. No designated beach. We canoed. We fished. We biked. We swam. The water is great when the temp is over 90 deg. You can get limited local tv channels with an antenna. If you go listen for the Bobwhite and Mississippi Kites. The gate closes at 10 O'CLOCK! We camped in our 1975 Hunter Compact II.
