The Anderson Camp Trail leaves Forest Service road #6515, climbing 1,100 feet in elevation to join the Rogue-Umpqua Divide Trail #1470. The trail meanders through a series of small meadows. As the trail nears the top, it passes through a large, grassy meadow where the tread may be difficult to distinguish. The trail follows along the east side of a small pond and heads uphill in a west-northwest direction to Anderson Camp, just below the crest of the mountain. Anderson Camp was a turn-of-the century sheepherder's camp. The name evidently commemorates an early sheep header, Frank Anderson. Note: Due to low volume of use, the trail receives limited maintenance. Be prepared to encounter brush and downed logs.
Right off the freeway for convenience. The owners have a Sinclair gas station with a little store in case you forgot essentials or basic food. Tent camping is opposite to the bathrooms/ showers which I think is odd since rvs have their personal showers. Also bring bug spray!!! When dusk comes around you will be destroyed unless there’s big winds. Our first night there was crazy winds and we were very happy we had plastic stakes with us. Friendly people, we called ahead and were told there was space available and then called 30 mins later and were told they were fully booked. We demanded they double check and she apologized for being mistaken and we were able to book last minute. We were traveling with no plans and found it on here. Great choice, would visit again! Twin falls has such great places to explore!!!
