Confirmed by 1 users | Last reported on June 13, 2021Stayed just one night here while traveling through Oregon. It’s about the closest campground we could find to crater lake that had full hookups, could handle a larger trailer, and was not a RV parking lot. The main campground is small but sites looked very private. We saw a few small trailers, but the roads are super tight. The RV sites are down a short down road just outside the main campground. RV1 looked the best and had the most privacy, RV3 would be my next preference. RV2 was hard to back into and there’s not a lot of room to maneuver. But, lots of cool stuff to see in the area. Make sure you get gas before coming in to the area. Not a lot of options. Crater lake was mostly closed even in June due to snow. Be ready for the bugs. Mosquitoes were crazy during the day. Not bad at night. Needed to completely cover up during the morning when we hitched up.

Lots of trees here and space between campsites. Union Creek flows through the middle of the campground and into the Rogue River with good fishing and great views. A sign at the entrance recommends RVs greater than 28 feet not to enter this campground. Our (27 foot box length, 30.5 foot total length) pull behind trailer and full size (8 foot bed) truck barely made it out between a large tree and a stump on the way out of the campground. Also the trees and bushes on the paved roads in the campground were not trimmed up very well and brushed the sides of our truck and trailer. If we stay here again we will reserve a spot before the bridge that crosses the creek, or get a smaller trailer.

Sites are spaced well. The road is very narrow. Would not take anything over 22 feet if pulling the trailer. A couple of places seemed to be only 9 or 10 feet between trees and the road is not straight. Sites on the river are nice. We checked it out midweek so there were only about 10 campers in the whole campground and they were on or near the river. If I remember correctly there are three sites with power to the left of the entrance to the campground. They are managed by the campground host. They have many small outhouses in this campground. This campground is only maybe one or two miles from Farewell Bend campground and Crater Lake is only 17 miles away and Prospect OR is only 15 miles away with gas grocery and cell service. We stayed at Farewells Bend Campground which has very nice restrooms with running water. Farewell is more open, closer to the highway and is busier. There are 2 other national forest campgrounds in the area that we did not check out.
