Confirmed by 2 users | Last reported on June 15, 2022We stayed 4 days in late July. A lake covering about 20 acres was recently stocked with 10” - 12” trout. There is both reserved camping and walkup camping (meaning that they hold some spots for people who show up without reservations).
We were on the RV side but the other side is mostly tents. There is a mostly paved, handicap accessible path all the way around the lake with benches, fishing docks, and other amenities. There is a ramp of sorts to launch your small boats or floaties and a sand/clay beach.
The RV side is quiet and well laid out with easy access to the lake via several paths. There is no electricity or sewage in the park but there is a place to fill water containers. If you need to fill your RV tank, you can do so down the road a few miles at the ranger station. Nearest dump station is at the Crook County RV park on Main Street in Prineville 25 miles away.
The park host Don was one of the friendliest and helpful I have ever encountered. Firewood and earthworms for sale at the host’s site.

Walton Lake is a beautiful lake in Crook County and a nice, smaller alternative to the Prineville Reservoir Camp Ground nearby. The lake was calm and clean and good for swimming, kayaking, canoeing, SUPing and fishing. Our camp site was a bit awkward as our picnic table and fire pit was not near the awning side of our trailer, so we had to walk away from our trailer to hang out by the fire. Not a big deal, there was plenty of space between sites and a few good hikes nearby and around the lake.

Beautiful location. Good fishing. Quite. No cell service. Walton lake has it all. Reserved and first come, first served sites. Ours was is #6. A pull through with a lake view on the RV side. No hookups but hey. It's camping right? (potable water is available) Not much interaction with the camp hosts except for a friendly wave as they drove by. Our rate was $7 a night with our senior lifetime pass. Such a deal.
Really. If you are looking for a quite getaway in a great setting with Mr. trout just begging to be in your frying pan this place cant be beat.
