The hosts were extremely nice and helpful, giving us tips to enjoy our visit to Dallas. (We toured the cowboys stadium and the JFK museum and walked downtown.)
The streets getting to the lake are one lane country roads for about 5 miles, so it takes a bit of time to get to the freeway. Still, the great rate plus the beautiful scenery made up for that.
Note…the road just outside the park and through the park is extremely rough and you gave to go about 5 miles per hour. The gates also close at 10pm, so if you don’t make it back in time, you have to park your car/truck outside the gates. Period. And it’s kind of a low rent district right outside the gates. But we felt totally safe and had no issues while camping there in our big rig. Very quiet, very pretty.

Army Corp site that was shutdown for 2 years for COVID (stupid) and opened again 4/1/22. They lock the front gate 10pm-10am which means you can’t get back in driving it out visiting friends late and have to exit on a lane with a deep pothole by the gate that can rip off a leveling jack on a fifth wheel. They also are not using the typical 2 camp host sites by the gate, but have given away at least 4 sites (nice ones) in the campground to host, lawn keepers, etc. Off season no problem, but very frustrating when you can find a site on a warm Spring weekend. We had to move from our reserved #16 site since the electrical all the way in the back, but tree would have been hitting my fifth wheel rig without even putting slides out. I asked to trim the tree, but not allowed. Had to loose one night cost to move to another site with more trees, but at least trimmed. Not all trees over the road are trimmed, including approaching to entrance.

We were traveling through Texas and we were looking for an inexpensive place for the night. Clear Lake Park fit the bill. The spot we had was an 30 amp so we could only run 1 air conditioner which was ok. The view of the lake was nice. There was no one at the gate to check us in so we found our site which we hoped would be a pull through but it wasn’t. After setting up someone came and checked us in. The spot was somewhat level. It was quite except for in the morning when someone’s dog started barking. Needs some maintenance our electric hookup looked as if it might have caught fire at one point. We have our own WiFi router and had good reception. It was an okay place for the night especially at the price. Also the way we came in the roads were not bad.

I highly recommend this place if you ever find yourself in or around Dallas/McKinney TX. Yes…the roads could be better but they work fine. And yes…a bit of a drive to any services. Six miles to a Dollar General and 11 miles to Walmart but who cares when you have views to die for, lots of space between neighbors, as quiet a CG as I’ve ever been in with full hookups, showers and toilets and all for $15/day with out Senior Pass. Some shaded spots and some open. Excellent cell service and tons of television channels with just your antenna. We will be back.

This park is just beautiful! The hosts keep it looking like a golf course. The camp sites are scattered all around a peninsula with Lake Lavon surrounding it. Best views and lake access are 9,10, 11 and 12. Showers and bathroom are spotless and shower water is actually WARM! Hosts just couldn't be nicer. It's a little drive away from civilization because it is really in the country, but well worth it! Also take America the Beautiful Senior pass so $15 a night for full hookups? You gotta be kidding! But it's TRUE at Clear Lake!
