“gold, silver, diamonds aww yeah!”
During his lifelong career as a jewelry designer, Jonathan Bailey won four international awards. Fashion models wore his creations on the pages of Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, and Women’s Wear Daily. Jonathan Bailey moved from New York to Princess Anne in 1985 where he and his wife Melissa opened Bailey Jewelers and began crafting gold jewelry with Eastern Shore motifs. Using a complicated lost wax process, Jonathan sculpted jewelry in the shapes of crabs, oysters, workboats, skipjacks and rockfish. His wife, Melissa Bailey of Princess Anne, won first place and runner up in the Student Category of a Tri-State Jewelry Design Contest held in Washington, D. C. in 1991. Four criteria were used in the judging: craftsmanship, creativity, wearability, and marketability. Melissa’s first place entry was an exquisite 14k yellow gold opal pendant called "Calla Lily Spring." Her second place entry was a 14k yellow gold citrine ring called "Splendid Rays." Melissa has been a licensed gemologist with the Gemological Institute of America since 1989. After Jonathan died in October of 1995, Melissa and their two sons have continued to create magnificent pieces using the same method they were taught by Jonathan.Bailey Jewelers is a full service Jeweler offer appraisals, repairs and custom design.
