“Fish and have fun”
Visitors can enjoy fishing and paddling the inlets and bayous that wonder though the salt marsh. The Salt Spring looks small, but it is an amazing 320 feet deep. Gray fox, gopher tortoises, and Dolphins call this park and its waters home. Birdwatchers can enjoy sighting raptors, wading birds, shore birds, and migratory songbirds. Although this park protects four miles of pristine coastline along the Gulf of Mexico in western Pasco County we have no beaches or swimming area. Werner-Boyce now has a total of three areas open to the public: Scenic Drive Trail Head at 10333 Scenic Drive Port Richey which contains a picnic pavilion, tables, informational kiosk, and a short hiking trail (Corner of Cinema and Scenic). The Black Rail trail head located at the very west end of State Road 52; turn west from US 19 on to SR 52 drive 1 mile park contains a kiosk and ½ hiking trail, which is great for birding. The newest area is the Main Gate at 8737 US Highway 19 North, Port Richey FL. (about ¼ mile north of Ridge Road on the west side of US Hwy 19 N) this area is under construction but open for use; at this time it contains four hiking trails, kayak launch and picnic tables.
