“enjoy the Cape Blanco lighthouse & historic Hughes House tours”
Located at the state's westernmost tip, and perched over the Pacific Ocean, Cape Blanco features a 19th-century lighthouse and an early Irish settler's home. Use our private, sheltered campsites as your base camp while you enjoy the park's history, trails and rugged coastline. More than eight miles of hiking trails lead to the beach, viewpoints of ocean vistas, fishing spots along the Sixes River, and the lighthouse. On horseback, follow a seven-mile trail or enjoy a 150-acre open riding area across from the horse camp.

Confirmed by 5 users | Last reported on February 04, 2024Cape Blanco is a beautiful state park. Pretty much all of the sites in this campground are good sites. They're nicely spaced and the natural landscaping is abundant.
During our stay the winds were whipping, but we were protected by the trees, making for a hypnotizing ambient sound.
I was able to get 3 bars of AT&T 4G and 4 bars of Verizon 4G with the Wilson Sleek Booster.

We stayed here as part of our trip up the coast. The lighthouse was a bonus.
PROS
→ The campground is gorgeous! It’s nestled among Sitka spruce trees. They provide a lot of privacy between you and your neighbors and are just so pretty.
→ You can walk to the lighthouse and the beach from the campground.
CONS
→ The dump station is closed because it’s broken and they’ve been trying to secure funding to replace it. See the photo I attached with the posted explanation sign. You will need to plan on using the dump station at the state park north or south of this park.
→ A pro is they have free showers but the con is it’s a cold experience. If more than one shower is in use at a time the water is barely warm. The shower nozzle sprays the water out in all directions which makes it hard to take a quick shower and also creates its own air current which chills you to the bone. The shower room is also chilly. Everything was clean though.
4.5-stars - A near perfect campground except for the cold shower.

This is a fantastic park -- the sites are big and well spaced, there's a lot of trees and acess to the ocean. We stayed in a cliff side spot and it was awesome.

We didn't have a reservation, but crossed our fingers that there would be an opening. Yay! Arrived around 1 pm and scored the last spot in this well-maintained park. A9 was one of the sunniest spots in this heavily wooded campground.
We walked along the beach overlook path towards the lighthouse and stumbled upon the Cape Blanco Slope Fest (soaring) event which was enthralling to watch. Spied a couple of whales spouting, and observed a wrecked ship being slowly dragged along the beach to the south by two caterpillars as part of a salvage operation.
We enjoyed a tour of the Harris House the next morning on our way out. Don't miss it!
Update: We just stayed 4 nights in August of 2016, in the same spot as last year (A9 which is sunnier than most at CB). During this visit we hiked both north and south beaches several times, did the proper lighthouse tour (free with our National Park pass). We also whale-watched from the bluff overlooking the south beach. Even though the fog rolled in and we experienced serious wind, the sun came out enough each day to warm us up. We could have stayed forever!
Cell phone signal seemed stronger this year (Verizon LTE, two bars, plus we have a booster now which probably helped.

This Oregon state park was well designed and maintained, so much better than the CA state parks we had been visiting. The campground is situated on a bluff and is fully wooded with tall spruce and fir trees. The parking pads are long and paved with a nice graveled tent pad beside them. Electric and water spigots at the site were in good shape. The sites are largely screened from each other with vegetation, though some of those along the bluff have less screening at the back end. But the distance between campsites ameliorated that. From the campground you can walk down to the beach to the south or north along the bluff to the lighthouse on the cape. From the south beach there are miles of beach to walk. Same on the north side of the cape with some nice tide pools at the base of the cape on the north side. The trail along the bluff is quite nice and we were able to spot a whale from it on one day. There is also a network of trails, shared with horses, that run through the interior of the park. All of the trails are well-maintained. Only caution I can offer is that the dump station is out of service for an extended time. We dumped at Bullard Beach State Park about 30 miles north with no issue.

We spent the end of June through Independence Day here. It's a first come, first serve campground, but seemed to have a least a couple spots open up almost every day. Half the campground is under the shade of trees and half is more open with some sun. Although pretty, it got chilly under the trees and we often ended up in our friends' site in the sun.
You can walk to beautiful cliff views or down to the beach. You have water and electric at your site and very clean restrooms and showers in the center of the cg. The showers are nice and warm, just avoid the third one in the ladies' stalls. The spray is misty and lets in too much air to stay warm.

Very popular in the summer so we never go there at that time. Beautiful walk down to the beach and trails all around. Full hookups but no dump.

All the campsites are amazing and secluded. Lots of trees.
Had enough cell service to work remotely.
Power and water only. The dump station is out of service and will be for some time to come - See photo of notice.
Enjoyed: views of the ocean from the bluff, the lighthouse, the old homestead, the trail along the bluff, and the access road down to the beach. Really enjoyed the sandy beach and rock formations.
The park is away from civilization and was very enchanting.
Come prepared and stay for a few days.

Arrived after dark in the rain, but was able to select a secluded site that was high and dry. Site had partial hookups electricity and water. The dump station was out of service. Self-registration and payment are at the campground host Site #50.
Fortunately, in the morning the clouds broke and we had a nice walk from the dayuse parking to the Lighthouse even though tours are not offered from Oct-Mar.
We did not have cell reception on ATT, but we did have data with our Hotspot.

Sites are very private with good natural blocks from neighbors. There is a breeze I hear in the tree tops but at site, it is calm. Here in June and they were down to about 4 sites left. Sites are nice and flat and for our tent trailer, perfect. We will wxplore the trail to the beach after breakfast and check out the light house as well. Highly recommend.
