Confirmed by 1 users | Last reported on June 22, 2022We stayed here for nine days starting Memorial Day Weekend 2017. We had site #7 which was nice but was tight for our 5'er due to trees on the lot. The site was wonderfully long although it dropped off from parking to the fire ring. We were struck by how quiet the campground was. Memorial Day weekend was packed but quiet. During the following week were one of two units on the grounds fro a bit.
It is dry camping but we were so impressed this is on our list for a return sometime. Officially they limit to 35 foot and under (our was 35') and that is fairly accurate. Some sites could accommodate a longer rig but using the dump station requires making a U-Turn on the way out. Bathrooms & Showers were clean and the Rangers were exceptionally friendly and laid back. This is Connecticut at its best.
We looked at all the sites and next time would pick 34, 11, 10, 26, 8 or 3. These would permit back in of a larger RV more easily. If you are shorter, I think you would not go wrong with most any site.

Single loop around open field with some shade trees. Level asphalt sites . Large sites good spacing but lack privacy because lack of vegetation. Friendly staff. They come by sites and deliver wood. Several nice fields and some good hiking trails . Dump station was closed though when I contacted the state they said it was opened. One water spigot that was leaking and there was a large puddle. Some nice hiking trails. Staff really works hard keeping the grounds neat,

We averged $36 / night for W/E50/S gray water only/I with our Passport American discount ($54 without). Our sunny, gravel, back-in site was spacious between us and the next site on the passenger side. The site sloped towards the front and required two boards totaling 4 inches to level. The interior roads were good though turns were a little tight in places. The internet service was good though sometimes in the evening when it was busy it was difficult to get a connection.
A can't miss attraction less than 10 minutes away is the Gilette Castle!! There was not much else nearby though we did drive 45 minutes to an hour to see other attractions including the Submarine Force Library & Museum in New London, Henry Whitfield State Museum in Guilford, and Thimble Island Tour in Branford.

We recently acquired a new 32’ class C. I had equipped it with some solar so it would be “boondocking friendly”. The performance of my system was good but I had surprised that the dump station was closed during Covid. My reservation confirmation includes a dump station as an amenity. So we’ll have to go offsite to dump.
Grounds are the same as during my first visit and review in 2017. See that for details.
