“trek through rolling hills & small canyons”
Bing Canyon Pioneer Camp (BCPC) is located near Plymouth, Washington just North of the Columbia River. It is part of AgriNorthwest property, a large irrigated farm. This place offers a site where stake and ward groups can conduct 3 or 4 day youth pioneer treks. The terrain for the trek is rolling hills and small canyons with prairie grass and low shrubs and sagebrush. This site resembles Wyoming's Mormon Handcart and Pioneer Trail. The weather is also very similar in the summer months. The elevation of the ranch ranges from 500 to 1,000 feet. Groups can pull handcarts over approximately 20 miles of country trails. There is also a large grassy irrigated park that we designate as "Zion" where trek groups can enjoy after their long trek or groups can gather, play games, and relax. This area also has places to camp with fire rings. It has picnic tables and one covered pavilion. BCPC supplies the groups with handcarts and a water trailer. Portable toilets will be placed at convenient locations along your route. BCPC coordinators also provide guidance in planning and training leaders. Full time Service Missionaries serve as Managing Coordinators. Individual groups provide their own leadership, itinerary, medical staff, and food.
There is a $15 charge per person for handcart and site maintenance.
With its mild climate and low altitude, BCPC can accommodate treks and stakes, wards, Boy Scouts, and other authorized organizations any time of year. Trek routes are designed around eight service sites, approximately three miles apart, consisting of four trailer mounted porta-potties and 150 gallons of potable water. Routes are flexible between these sites.
