We arrived around 12 noon. The place had several spots open. We walked and looked at the open spots and picked 17. This isn’t a fancy place but peace and quite. The creek running through the camp was awesome. The sound of it running over the rocks and logs was prefect. The green birds, black birds, hawks and other birds making noise was great. I listened to them for hours and watched the clouds. Went to the hot springs everyday and the water temp was perfect.
What makes this place so great is no services; not cell, radio or anything except gps. Something with the busy pace of life and people can’t wait a minute for anything. You get to escape it all and relax.
There are several hike out of camp and several a few miles down the road. I even climbed a mountain with my wife right out of camp. An old homestead was just a few miles away out of camp.
If you like the great outdoors and wild life like pronghorns, mule deer, big horn sheep and golden eagles then this is the place. You have to work for your rewards.
The last thing I’d note is if you want a good spot get there before noon. I watched several people get there after 4 or 5 on certain days and didn’t find a spot.
You do have to drive about 20 miles of gravel road to get there.
