This place was perfect. As camper-820723 said in their review, the campsites are spotless. Our hosts were Billy and Carolyn and the place is cleaned and raked each time a campsite is vacated. And yes, the portapotties are spotless and cleaned with bleach regularly. I can't add much to the previous reviews. It was a great area. Yes, you must go into Pitkin for any cell service. The Silver Plume General Store has free WiFi service.

Did an overnight between Montrose and Colorado Springs. It lists the max length at 16 ft, but there are sites which can accommodate much larger RV's such as our 27 ft trailer.

Just 1/4 mile above Pitkin CO the campground has 23 sites, most pull- throughs, but a very narrow drive through the campground. The sites were the best maintained we've ever seen in a USFS campground due to the efforts of the camp hosts, Rodney & Debbie. Just remarkable, even the fine river rock gravel pad at each campsite is cleaned and raked every time a camper departs. Portable potties were spotless. The site sits at the juncture of forest roads to the high passes, including Tin Cup and others. Manual water pump at the entry provides water and a gray water dump is available. All black water must be carried back out with you.
The trout stream bordering the campground, Quartz Creek is habitat for trout in a fast, small stream and just gorgeous. Moose wander through the campground occasionally and bear visitation can be a problem. A sow and 2 cubs were causing problems ransacking unlocked cars whiile we were there.
Pitkin is hugely popular with the off-road buggy campers and is overwhelming at times. It's always dusty and the forest road junction just outside the campground means all day traffic in summer months. Be sure to visit the general store/coffee shop in Pitkin for gas, snacks, ice cream etc. There is a bar& grill in Pitkin as well!
THERE IS NO CELL SERVICE, PERIOD.
