Confirmed by 2 users | Last reported on January 31, 2023I was here for a week for work, so this was a great location for me, not too far from downtown. It is right off of Hwy 17 so there is traffic noise. The campground is well taken care of, the bathrooms were clean and the showers were hot. Nice trees and shade for the desert. Wifi is a little spotty, I was in an overflow spot next to the office so I expected the wifi to work a little better. Don't know if there was just too much bandwidth being used or if the signal was just not strong enough. Most people kept to themselves. There was a homeless person living under the walkway bridge over the hwy, just outside of the entrance to the park. I did not feel unsafe but I would also not call this a vacation destination. Spaces are close together, there is a concrete walkway for outside your rv but the actual parking space is gravel. There are no picnic tables.

My first visit to Phoenix and my friends from Holland and I wanted an RV park close to town with all the amenities. Covered Wagon supplied us with all that. Near a bus stop (we didn't tow a car), but close to a big shopping center and town. The park shows age but it is clean and has recycle bins at convenient locations. I would like to thank manager, Angy, for making our stay at Covered Wagon very comfortable and satisfying.

My son’s bike was stolen right next to our trailer. Everyone parked their bikes next to their rv so we thought it would be fine. There is NO gate separating this place from the street heading towards the freeway(which you can hear traffic all night long) and there was an entire wall broken down connecting the very run down apartment complex to this place. Key for vandalism. Showers were nice but the price for this place was NOT worth it.

We stayed here during Spring Training -- March 2019. We hadn't planned ahead, so this is the only campground that we could find. We were in the overflow lot. First glance the bathrooms from the outside look like prisons with bars on the windows. It's a private shower/toilet setup with no shelves or any place to put your 'stuff' when washing up at the pedestal sink. But though spartan the bathrooms were surprisingly relatively clean. However, the area itself, the overflow where we were and the surrounding neighborhood was depressing. There is a lot of litter along the residential streets (even a dog carcass). Because of the nature of the 'overflow' RVs were parked, jammed into, anywhere there was a space. Adding to the experience, the road construction around Phoenix is horrible -- the interstates are like washboards. Oh well. Chalk it up as another RV experience.

The manager (Angie) is so polite, helpful, and works hard in the middle of the night to keep up on this place. The place is well kept up and a pretty nice place to stay. Nights were quiet and we slept well with good nights rest every night.
Electrical and other hook ups are easily accessible for your camper. I recommend this place to everyone and we will definitely be coming back when we are in the area.
Everyone that stayed here was respectful and looked out for each other. Cameras are everywhere and if something happens there is digital forensic evidence. We had our truck hit by a trailer and we were able to pinpoint who did it.
Your stay here will be a great one. Thank you to all the staff here at Covered Wagon RV Park especially Angie.

Directions:Turn Left on Glendale Road, turn lefy onto N 27th, turn left onto Maryland; the RV Park is on left towards the end. Clean, full hookups, quiet inside RV park boundaries. Our only caveat is we shouldn’t have had to pay a one-time $25 lock site fee to guarantee our space with our reservation for 2 nights, especially with only 2 spaces available. It would seem appropriate to charge for long term stays to guarantee a particle site. Internet was sketchy, so we disconnected & were OK.
We arrived around 3 pm on Saturday, left Monday at noon, wasn’t able to connect with any managers or owners @ check-in or check-out.

Electric plug in was above the washroom door. Pretty much says it all about this place.

We were visiting family in Phoenix, and this was the only park relatively close with availability in the first week of March. The location is truly dreadful, with many homeless people milling about at the street corner and in the block, plus numerous tweakers and other shady-looking characters. We pulled into the campground and immediately exited. Would we have been safe staying here? Possibly. Would we have felt safe, especially at night? No way.
I don't like leaving negative reviews, but at $66 per night we should feel safe in the campground. I gave this park two stars instead of one, only because the park itself has trees and looked decent. I just hope we can get some of our money back.

The park is old. The sites are spaced pretty well, but if you have a rig over 35' you will have a hard time getting into your site. Empty rigs in storage partially block one of the lanes. Parked pickups also block parts of the drive. The neighborhood surrounding the walled RV park is one of the worst in Phoenix. Severe homelessness and crime. The police helicopter is nearly a nightly presence. We never left chairs or grill out. Basement and entry doors were always locked at night. On the plus side, the park isn't too far away from restaurants, grocery etc. The laundry has three washers and four dryers, all work fine. Angie, the manager is helpful and friendly, if you can find her. She is frequently not in the office. Due to close proximity to I17 you get to listen endless traffic sounds. The locals seem to enjoy street racing sans mufflers in the middle of the night. Definitely will not stay here again.
