“Environmentally friendly wines”
We established Lost Coast Vineyards in 2002. Our goal has always been to produce top quality wines with the least possible impact on the environment. Solar panels are installed on the roof of our winery and we produce more electricity than we use. We remove invasive plants by hand and use manure from a local organic dairy farm. Our wines are handcrafted with grapes from our vineyards in Petrolia and our certified organic vineyard in Hoopa. Both of our vineyards are in Humboldt County but the climates are vastly different which allows us to grow a wide variety of grapes and have a hands-on approach to the winemaking process. Petrolia is 2 miles from the Pacific Coast providing morning fog and afternoon sun which is ideal for growin Pinot Noir and white varietals such as Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon & Viognier. Hoopa ia further inland where summer days can reach 100 with cool night, lending to conditions for growing Barbera, Dolcetto, Merlot, Nebbiolo, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon. A decade later, we have won medals at the San Diego International Wine Competition, The Grand Harvest Awards, Appellation American and the Humboldt County Fair.
