Operators are very difficult to reach by phone, showers/toilets are usable but poorly maintained.
The access lane is very steep hill with minimal swing room even for our 26' motor home.
California has had alot of rain and the sites were badly washed out making access even more difficult.
Internet was slow but improved in the non peak periods.

Travelled through here for work with a small travel trailer and the place grew on me. It is peaceful, the mostly full time residents are friendly and quiet, and there are often many open spots. Am paying 135/week. They also take Passport America for half price every other day, i think. Picking your site is all on you, so you can pick a place that fits your style. I am tucked away in the top corner and have an amazing view of the woods and rocks. There is a mix of power/water sites and full hookup sites. Some spots are hard to get into, and the hills are a factor, but thats not the fault of the current owners. there are full hookup spots right inside the entrance the anyone can get into. They are clearly working aggressively to clean the camp, remove residents that cause drama, and make the campus a nice camp to stay in. It has been a very relaxing visit and you cannot find a hookup for less money anywhere in SD county. Don't let the initial impression scare you. its a sleepy little camp with very chill MGT, but they care to make it a welcoming experience.

In the 80s we stayed at this campground a few times, and had a great experience. Recently, we were visiting relatives in the area, so we decided to stay at Oak Knoll again. We were somewhat disappointed with the campground. The access roads were tight, and vehicles were sticking out into it. Even though our site was a pull-through, getting in and out required a lot of maneuvering, due to the narrow road, and very tight turns (this is with a 27' overall trailer). The site itself was not level, but it wasn't too bad. The facilities were run down. The toilets by the office dirty. When it rains, water runs though many of the campsites and forms gullies.
It is a shame, because the campground is in a great area, and has beautiful oak trees all over. Moreover, the campground personnel are very friendly and helpful.

I stayed here for a couple months at the end of 2015. The roads in the park are a bit narrow and rough for rv’s to traverse. In spots they are nearly impassible and heavily rutted. Few spots are level. Mine was so unlevel I could not level my rig. The only internet available was theirs though they told me I would be able to get my own wired -sure, if you want to put up a 30 ft tower for satellite reception as I later found out! Their wifi is highly weak and unreliable and they’ll charge you for that. Their laundry room and single washer and 2 dryers were dirty. My clothes came out smelling worse than they went in. It’s 15 mi through the beautiful mtns for shopping and descent food -Escondido. The worse part is they for some reason wanted to keep moving me to a different spot ea month. That was maddening. The lease agmt they will want you to sign requires you to waive 1 or more rights. I will never be back and strongly recommend you NOT visit. It’s a beautiful area, but I could not find a worthwhile park around for fair value. I would consider another region. Beautiful area, but lousy park.
