“a living museum of desert lore”
Moorten Botanical Garden was established in 1938 by Chester "Cactus Slim" Moorten and his wife, Patricia Moorten. The Moorten family, all desert plant specialists, turned their residence estate into a living museum of desert lore. The garden party areas are available for Civic, Cultural and Social events, such as weddings, receptions, art exhibits, concerts, classes, meetings, memorials, mixers and fashion shows. Ideal for photography, television programs and movie site locations. The arboretum features desert trees and cacti from miniatures to giants. It has a classic collection of more than 3000 varieties of plants designed in concentrated habitats along a natural trail.
