Just a few minutes from Valley of Fire, this site just a short distance from the very plastic Las Vegas Strip might as well be a million miles away. There's a ton of space for rigs of any size, and while we had neighbors during our midweek October visit none was even remotely close to another.
As the sites are below Lake Mead's high water line (which hasn't been seen in many years), the soil is dusty and chalky, interspersed by clumps of tamarisk. We arrived right as night was falling and after trying to squeeze into a spot nearer the shoreline and failing to get the rig level, we put our tail between our legs and retreated in total darkness to a broad flat spot a couple of hundred yards from the water's edge. Had we a bit more daylight, we might have spotted a site midway to the water that would've worked, but I was reluctant to move the following morning.
Valley of Fire is a very worthwhile nearby destination for fascinating hiking and wildlife, and if you really want to deal with the Vegas Strip it's less than an hour away.
Our Verizon service was 3 bars of very usable 4G unboosted.

We really enjoyed our stay here. Very easy access and close to the water for paddling. The dirt is hard packed and wasn't very dusty at all. Great views. Close to Valley of Fire. The only downside is there is some broken glass and trash. You can dump trash and recycle at the nearby springs north of the site. Echo Bay upper campground has fresh water and a dump station. Great LTE.

First off, this is not a free camping area, you either need to buy a daily permit pass, or if you have the National Parks Access Pass you are all good. I think the stay limit was 15 days here.
Being here in December this place was not to busy, during the summer months I heard it's a lot busier. It is a huge area with lots of areas to park, looks like you could easily fit 100 RVs out here. Its up to you and your rig how close to the lake you want to get, closer to the lake the rougher the roads.
Access was easy on a paved, then gravel road for about 2 miles to the camping area. The only amenity is a vault toilet by the entrance. Fairly clean area except for all the trash filled fire pits.
Cell service was fair to good.

We stayed here only one night as a stop-over coming from Sedona, AZ before we attempted for a site in the morning at the Valley of Fire SP. Arrived close to sunset and found a spot that our low-ground-clearance Airstream could manage, which wasn't too far off one of the main through-fares. Entry road wasn't too bad with some small rocks here and there.
Came back another day to explore with my 4x4 and found a lot of nice spots by the water, though I suspect that you'll want a smaller high-clearance camper to make it out to those secluded locations.
Excellent Verizon coverage, with effectively 4 bars on my Panorama/Cradlepoint combo.
Bonus: Look down on the ground here and you'll see an ancient seabed complete with shells, very cool!

This camping area is next to a small smattering of houses that make up the unincorporated town of Stewarts Point. The camping area itself is spacious, with two track dirt roads spidering down the cliffs above Lake Mead.
The most challenging part, upon arrival, is seeing a campsite you like the look of and figuring out how to get there. I think this area used to be under the surface of the lake, and it turns, dips and winds in unusual ways.
There is plenty of camping here, though only a few prime spots. Established spots overlooking the water go first. Those with high clearance, nimble, and short rigs can find places to descend and camp directly on the water.
Lake Mead is a pretty turquoise and is rimmed with hills. One afternoon I watched a military helicopter do water rescue drills, dipping down to the top of the lake and sending a spray of mist up around it. Must have scared the crap out of the fishermen in boats.
Lots of day users (fishermen and fisherwomen, mostly) and I imagine this place gets busy in the summer. A wild ride during a windstorm if the wind is coming off of the lake.
19 mbps/down, 3 mbps/up on AT&T when I tested. It fluctuated throughout my stay, but was always usable. Free dump/water ten miles south at the NPS campground, groceries and gas in Overton to the north.

We really love it out here! There is plenty of space for every shape and size of rig. The views are unbeatable and it is so incredibly quite! We parked our travel tailer at the furtherest point we could and, let me tell you, the bumpy ride is well worth the trip!
Fair warning, the road is rough and bigger rigs may find themselves in an area that they wouldn't be able to turn around in. Be sure to scout ahead at this location! Additionally, there are very few spots that are going to be level... have your levelers ready to stack!
Overall, Stewarts Point is a great boondocking site and we will camp here again if we are ever in the area!

When we arrived on Thursday, we were able to easily find a prime spot overlooking Lake Mead. There were only a few other RVs. A couple more would pull in over the weekends, but there was still plenty of space.
The road coming in is a little rough including the paved part. You already have experienced the ride when you see the sign declaring "rough road." It's not too bad, though, just something to be aware of when you head that way.
There are large open areas near the pit toilets that we saw a couple RVs use for camp. We pulled off there to unhook and scout. Also be aware there are some deep places of gravely rock near the edge of some points that could get you stuck. It's best to check the ground first.
We had a view of Lake Mead on three sides and it was beautiful to open all the windows and work. Both weekends got pretty windy which could drive you nuts without stabilizers.
The GraphX place in Overton will accept packages. She charges $5 per package, but cut us a deal for all our Amazon since they like to box things separately. There's also a decent grocery store, Family Dollar, Ace, True Value, Napa, and a few restaurants in town. The laundromat seemed to be out of business.
Internet was pretty good, but a booster made a huge difference in upload speeds. We did have AT&T cut out a few times. My uploads on AT&T ranged from 1-5 depending on the day with download around 11 on my phone and 40 on the nighthawk hotspot. Verizon was 14 down and 7 up.

I was out on a point (at the coordinates listed in my site #) that is just right for a smaller rig. I wasn't able to get completely level there, but level enough. Deep, deep rocks in areas, especially my site. You do need an interagency pass (America the Beautiful Pass or similar) or there is a $20/vehicle fee.
What a view! For a good part of my stay, I couldn't see anyone from the van, so I didn't even cover my windows at night. It was Spring Break week and still not too crowded. It was extremely quiet.
The area is awesome - so many places to camp and super close to Valley of Fire State Park, which I highly recommend at $10/day. Loved White Dome (more rainbow than white) and Fire Wave. Next time I want to do the one-way trail from White Dome. There is a free dump station at the campground in Valley of Fire and at Echo Bay.
I had great cell service without a booster.

Views of the reservoir are nothing special and the landscape is severely flood damaged. The sites are down in a hole which limits the horizons. Road in is rough, but no clearance issues for any rigs. Too much hassle for just an overnight. Okay for longer term if seeking water access. Free Lake Mead access is very limited and it is certainly better than Government Wash.

This will be our new go to spot when visiting Lake Mead.
I suggest parking up top near the pit toilets and unhooking to scout. Tons of spots and roads are spread out in every direction. The weekenders fill up the lake spots pretty quick.
Road coming in is partially paved, but a bit bumpy in spots. Take your time and you will be fine. We did it in a 40ft coach with no problem.
There is a camp ground about 15 miles up the road with free water and dump.
Overton is about 20 minutes away and has a grocery, hardware store, and a couple restaurants/bars.
Disregard the 2 star review above, the views are tremendous and the road going in isn't to bad.
