When we got there the door was unlocked and the entire place had not been cleaned from the guest before us; used bedding, used throw blankets, dirty floors, baseboards, walls and rugs, dirty dishes, old food, items all over floor, dirty bathroom, dirty towels & more. We contacted the host right away & he said he would have someone over to clean. But when his mom came over to clean she had a bad cold & just a few things with her. The rental was a huge mess and the fact that she had a cold made us worry about catching it ourselves. It's rough that she had to clean a place last minute, at night, while having a cold. But it was a really horrible introduction to this place! We left to give her time but after she cleaned & we returned, there was a ton of mess left over. The glade plugin that we saw sitting on the kitchen counter (earlier when we first arrived) had been moved, but a large puddle of oil was left on the counter & the plugin was found in the cabinet next to some canned and boxed food. She clearly didn't even wipe down surfaces! Worse yet, we did not see the oil right away until we picked up the remotes & the laminated welcome instructions, which were covered in oil. It was all over our hands! The internet did not work so we checked the connections, which were all installed correctly & the signal was strong. There was just no internet service active. Right off the bat, it seemed like the host didn't take it seriously. It was alarming. After that, my boyfriend stepped on a piece of dried fruit on the floor, we found roach traps in the cabinets & the sink strainer had food and hair in it.... it was adding up. We were starting to think we needed to keep our eyes open. We started checking if the bathroom had been cleaned and realized the toilet was dirty, regardless of the sanitized band wrapped around the lid!!!! We were clearly the first people to wipe the toilet down with a paper towel and cleaning spray for at least a week. In order to feel comfortable I re-cleaned the counters, toilet & floor. The host offered to give us a full refund but wanted to have us cancel ASAP so he could re book it. I was shocked that he expected us to move quickly for his convenience! I was especially shocked he wanted to try to make money off of a place that needed attention, even though he was clearly unable to do that at the time. As it was late & it would be difficult & costly for us to change plans last minute, we thought we could still make it work. My boyfriend tried to take a shower & the water heater was out. The host's girlfriend came over & turns out the propane tank was turned off. She did not know how to turn it on so I had to help her. While she was over, she video called the host & he was very irritable the whole time. We tried to smooth things over with them, as we wanted to make the best of our vacation. But that was short lasting. After we went to dinner, my boyfriend tried to take a shower once again. He found pubic hair on the walls & toiletries in the shower! That was the last thing we could manage. We tried to cancel the last 2 nights of our stay asap, but we needed internet service to connect with a laptop to make cancellations.

Amazing place! I live here here year around. It's close to everything and right on lake Fairview!
