“Formerly a large, lumpy, pink rock”
A shop made to look like a large rock. Don and Mickey's shop has really cool specimens inside (as well as an coffee & espresso!), and cut slabs outside to dig through. There may be many other rock shops in this area, but you can't beat a friendly and courteous place with just quantity. Come on down and learn about Septarian Nodules which look like thunder eggs…which are small pebble or shell like objects which have accumulated many layers over time and hardened. And now they can glow a bit under UV light! But how?! You'll have to come down to learn about that part.
Best stop over on our trip! We were fortunate enough to stop in just days before they close for the season. We bought ice cream, good coffee (not on the road coffee- you know what I mean) and snowflake obsidian. We too were sent on a great adventure. Easy to just pull in from the road. A highlight of the trip and we are doing some great stuff.
Great stop!!! The owner was so nice. They have a large variety of rocks and fossils for sale. They also make a mean latte!
This place is awesome. Of all the rock shops in the area, this is best. The owner is super friendly and kind. We sat in their small picnic area and had our lunch with an amazing view. He came and sat with us for a few moments while he had o customers and we chatted about his family and our travels. His wife has two goats in the back of the property ( Lilly and Violet if I remember correctly) He is very knowldgeable of the area and of course of stones and rocks found there. I will always go back to this shop if nearby.
A fun little stop on the way to Bryce Canyon. The coffee was good (I had a latte) and my girls loved looking at all of the rocks. The person that helped us was very friendly!
We have been in to see Don for our morning coffee each day since we arrived at the RV park we are staying at in Glendale. He has put us on to some great destinations that we would have missed out on had we just done Bryce and Zion. This is a great place to stop at regardless of your interests. Make sure you put a pin on the map indicating where you travelled from, the number of places people are from will astonish you.
I am so glad I stopped here. You arrive as a stranger and you leave as a friend. We met Don and fed the lovely goats Lily and Violet. We had a lovely coffee and bought some gifts in Don's shop. Actually the prices were the cheapest of the whole trip, so had we known this we would have bought more. A really special place in our hearts!
This was a gem of a find - pun intended! Bummed a rock shop was closed near Bryce, this was a pleasant find! Very friendly staff, and what's more to need than gorgeous rock specimens (we bought many), espresso drinks (yum), and ice cream for the kids! Highlight of my afternoon was finding this little pit stop. They also gave us info on Moqui Cave, not too far ahead and another great find.
Stopped on the way into Kanab and then again on the way back to Oregon. The owners are kind, fun people with great energy. We dropped a couple Benjamin’s total both ways so they gave us a ‘discount’ which amounted to a free pendant necklace. Who does that?!? Shop here instead of the rock place in Kanab. They are much friendlier and more knowledgeable.
