“too much fun for just one day”
Jackson Lake is ranked one of the "Top 15 Park Beaches" by Reserve America. Anglers, boaters, or naturalists realizing there’s too much fun for just one day enjoy the variety of water or land based recreational facilities found here. Birders and hunters flock here because of the parks location in the Central Flyway for migratory birds. Quiet winter months provide hearty wildlife viewers some excellent opportunities to spot the many animals that live here. No matter the season, Jackson Lake is, as novelist James Michener suggests, “an oasis of the plains."

The Lake is beautiful and the grounds have a lot of options for tents/campers. Our only complaint is that it cost $36 a night, plus an $8 a day park pass and there’s no water at the sites. It’s a little pricey, but we’ll return for short trips. The swim beach is also very small so I’m not sure how crowded that could be if it were hot and a busier weekend. The beach also is backed by a marsh so it is probably buggy ?

If you love 'Merica, and love your rights and liberties above all else, then this is the campground for you! You can have a campfire- even when there is a statewide fire ban. You can take a picture of your 5-foot flames with your American flag in the background. You can run your generator at 3 o'clock in the morning! You can even throw your personal hygiene products right on the floor of the bathroom - no one will clean it up, and no one will tell you that you can't! You can shoot your guns early in the morning, swear at the top of your lungs as people are trying to go to sleep, and even light off fireworks in September! So pack up your ammo, bring your flags, your Miller, and don't forget the bug spray - because there are plenty of mosquitos!

We spent the weekend in a lakeside site in the Foxhill campground. This loop has no water or electric, which is exactly what we were looking for. It did get hot (86 in late April). I would likely choose a site with electric if we visited in the summer. The sky was amazingly dark at night and the campground was also very quiet at night. We had great AT&T service and almost no service on Verizon in our campsite. Overall, this was a relaxing place to spend the weekend close to our home.

$45/night electric only is way overpriced. They lie about the price and say it is $36, but when you get there you also have to pay $9 for entry so it is really $45. Also then they also charge for coin-operated showers. And after we both put money in there was no hot water in the showers. What a rip off. So, including the showers we paid $49 for no shower and only electric. Should be $18.
Bathroom sinks had tons of dead bugs and the mirror and under the toilet seat were disgusting. It’s dusty desert prairie with super sharp thistles that penetrated our sandals and shoes and are very hard to remove or sweep out and the little lake looks man-made.
Colorado is crap for camping. Ridiculously expensive. Colorado has high taxes and makes so much from cannabis they should subsidize public services like state parks instead of trying to make a profit.
The people who left good reviews must have never been to other states with better camping. Idaho has much more beautiful sites with full hook ups for $25.

Campgrounds are dirt/sand. Bathrooms were a mess when I arrived at 7pm. There is NO cell coverage and we have both ATT and Verizon. Unreal amount of mosquitoes when I went but very wet in CO this year. Camped with kids in the past and was fun but not sure what happened to cell coverage. It rained every hour so stuck inside with no cell sucked.

Best spots are right next to the water- probably obvious. Foxhill, where we stayed, is very exposed. Per the website they are all electric. We ran our AC quite a bit, but not at night. There is one path to the lake from this campground which is less than a quarter mile to lake access. This is depending on your site. We were at 147. There’s a small beach there but it probably will be quite occupied (on the weekend) with families who want that access as well. And DEFINITELY bring bug spray.
Dump station and potable water at the entrance were all in working order. There are water pumps throughout the campgrounds that were available as well.
I would come back again and stay at one of the other campgrounds that have a bit more tree cover.

We stayed one night when visiting family in Hudson. Our site was large and easy to get to. We asked for “away from people” and we backed up to the marina. We asked if there was water and were told yes but it’s just a filling station. The bathrooms had A LOT of bugs and the trash dumpsters were overflowing. At night, the bugs were even worse. We got swarmed going from our truck to our camper. There were probably 100 inside the camper..no joke. The lake is beautiful but it was too hot outside for us to enjoy it.
