This campground is at a boat launch on the Owyhee River. It is a perfect overnight spot if you’re traveling the long lonely stretches of US 95. We pulled in there at sunset and we were rewarded by a pretty view of the Owyhee River.
From US 95, it’s a quarter mile down a hard packed, wash board dirt road to the small campground but easy to turn around once you’re there.
The campground is basically a large gravel lot with 4 campsites on one side along the river. Campsites are for tent camping and have passable picnic tables and fire rings. Sites were clean. Trees provide some shade. We parked parallel to one camp site with our 33’ RV pulling a van. No one else was there so we didn’t need to unhook our tow dolly. There were several spots to park an RV in the middle of the lot. There is a circular drive so it was easy to get out.
Day use area has grill and irrigated lawn.
Pit toilets were well stocked with TP and clean.
Potable water was available.
Three cars and one RV were left overnight in parking area presumably by boaters. There’s an admin building there too.
The Owyhee River is wild and scenic. Boating requires a permit.
No garbage cans; no garbage pick up.
Nearby is the pillars of Rome, a rock formation. The Rome cafe was also open the next morning.

Nice to stay here the night before a an Owyhee River float. Often in Alpril and May it is very crowded, noisy with traffic of river users.

We stayed just one night and parked our 40 ft Pheaton w/toad in front of a fire pit at the most level spot we could find. Using our levelers the right rear tire was in the air. We blocked it with some jack pads and spent the night. There is a government office and Big Garage probably for a snow plow. Nobody was there.
The Owyhee river here was really dirty with irrigation pipes probably sucking water for the farm across the river. The 1/4 mile gravel road was really washboard. We drove 5 miles an hour or less. Good news is that the road is pretty short.
If going south Rome Launch is at the bottom of a steep descending part of the highway. We missed it at first. Then turned around at the Rome Station which has cabins and places for RVs and a small restaurant and store. We did not visit it.
Highway noise was pretty quiet. I think this was because of very little night traffic out here in the boonies. Our Satellite reception was great, we watched Justice Kavenaugh being sworn in here. There was a tent and a hunter who said he was hunting coyotes...

Not far off the road but very quiet. Tons of stars. toilets (vault) were clean, stocked with TP, and didn’t stink.

A great quiet overnight spot to stop for the night. It was a bit hard to find a level spot but not too bad and we had a nice view of the river. Easy on and off the road and the only negative would be the goat heads.

Simple clean campground serving as a quiet launch point for your trip on the Owyhee River. Bathroom facilities and seasonal availability to water. Otherwise basic campground. Good starting point for float trips downstream, and close access to Rome Station with gas and food, just across the river, within a half mile.

Great peaceful stop on our travels from Idaho to Nevada. Plenty of room for our 35’ 5th wheel. A small truck camper joined us with an occasional vehicle in/out for a bathroom break. Restrooms were clean, cement picnic tables, and fire rings. We had to add a few blocks on one side to level but didn’t need to unhitch. Some ground stickers but not bad. Could use some weeding. Saw a worker from the building on-site adding toilet paper to restrooms.
Verizon weak but calls/texts and social media worked.
