Confirmed by 1 users | Last reported on July 21, 2022We arrived early in the season so they were still getting it ready for the summer. Dirt interior roads with all grass sites. 50 amp sites are under the large trees so we had shade but no satellite connection. Also no WiFi from the park - didn't even show up on our options. All sites are pull-through, tents allowed.
Our site was level and free of standing water after a couple storms before our arrival. FHUs all worked well, although sewer is elevated. Small picnic table and metal fire ring. Some firewood stacked around park but I'm not sure it it's come-and-get-it since we don't do fires. Very quiet and dark at night - wonderful!
A young woman was working hard everyday to knock down the remaining grass, cutting up downed branches, and really making a difference during our short stay - kudos! Owner in home/office on site, very nice. Small fee for using credit card - he does take cash or check. A couple residents with long clothesline and some junk right in middle of the park really takes away from the otherwise nice campground.
Park is on the river with access about 1/4 mile away at the marina. Get a pasty at Syl's in town - the best we've had!

It was a very nice, clean and maintained campground. It is a small campground and was not full when we were here. Some of the mens showers did not have hot water only warm. I would stay here again if I didn’t have to work. Slow internet using Verizon mifi hotspot.

Renee is a gracious host and was very friendly. The park is immaculately groomed and clean, we only needed minor adjustments to get level. Just stayed for the night on our way down the road, would definitely stay again.

Nice campground for our needs. We did a lot of hiking in the Porcupine Mountains.

We stayed here for two weeks. The campground is located just outside downtown Ontonagon (with a decent grocery store a short drive away) but only 30 minutes away from Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park. As you approach the campground, enter the gravel driveway on the right that brings you to the front of the office to check in. We paid for our stay via check.
All of the roads in the campground are gravel. Most if not all of the RV sites are pull-through sites with either gravel or grass pads with grass lawns. All sites have a fire ring and at least one picnic table. A few sites have trees that provide some shade, but most did not. We were in site 19, which is a very long pull-through site that has a grass pad and shares a shade tree with site 20. The lowest branches on our side of the tree looked low enough to touch our roof on our way out, so we swung a bit left when we departed. Site 20, on the passenger side, was fairly close, so much so that their water connection was almost in our patio area (we didn't have a neighbor on our driver's side, so never got a feel for how tight the space was on that side). The other negative about the site was that the sewer connection was tall and uphill of where we parked, and the screw threads were broken. I eventtually gave up trying to dump uphill and waited until we were hooked up so I could back up the camper and make the sewer hose as short as possible.
In terms of amenities, there is a laundry room at the back end of the office building, a bathhouse with soda vending machines in the front and several stalls and showers for each gender, a large rack with firewood bundles to purchase, a small playground, and a dump station. Across the street from the main entrance is a floating dock on the Ontonagon River.
There is no dog park, but there are plenty of open spaces to walk your dog along the front of the campground and around the edges. Just be aware that in the summer there are a lot of mosquitos along those edges with the high grasses and the trees.
In terms of cell service, the speed tests I took with our Verizon Jetpack with MIMO antenna when we got there weren't great: I saw 2Mbps down and 1 up. However, most days I was able to work without much trouble, and some evenings I was able to stream video with some buffering. My AT&T service with my smartphone was better and more consistent, with speeds of 186Mbps down and 15 up. The campground does offer WiFi. Sometimes it was as bad as the Verizon bandwidth, but I did one speed test with it that clocked in at 7.4 down and 4 up.
Even if you come here to visit other attractions, pick a nice evening to go to the beach near Lakeshore Park in Ontonagon and watch the sunset.
