6 acres Picnic Tables & Grills Restrooms Fishing Access Canoe/Kayak Launch River Frontage Play Equipment History and Description: Rebecca Ferguson Park is one of most intensively used parks in Meridian Township. It is located on the Red Cedar River. The original 4 acres were acquired through a donation from the Ingham County Road Commission in 1971. An additional 1.7 acres were donated in 1999 by adjacent property owner Ghulam and Sufia Sumbal. The park was renovated in 2001 with grant assistance from the Clean Michigan Initiative Recreation Bond Program. Upgrading accessibility of the canoe launch, restrooms, picnic area and playground were done to meet ADA requirements. In 2004, Meridian Township Land Preservation Millage Funds acquired 25 acres adjacent to Ferguson Park along the Red Cedar River from Ghulam and Sufia Sumbal that will provide passive recreation opportunities. This park includes sidewalks, picnic areas, and parking that are accessible to individuals with a disability.
