“whimsical!”
"The outside of this vintage gas station may look simple and quaint, but what's inside is basically hipster porn. Seriously, it couldn't be any more cool if it tried. Summer Camp, inspired by owners Mike and Rachel Graves' love of mid-century design, hand-crafted goods and the outdoors. I would say that it's all painfully hip if I wasn't so busy trying to figure out how to get my apartment to look like their store. Between the vintage pendants, the succulents, the hammock chair and the string of twinkle lights, I can't help but love it. Everything in the store is curated to twee perfection, and it all comes from small craftsmen and women across America, like goats' milk soap from Fillmore and handmade leather wallets from a third-generation leatherworker in Santa Barbara. A lot comes from flea markets or thrift shops as well, of course. They also specialize in museum-quality framing with all kinds of beautiful and tasteful frame options. It's like taking a shopping trip through Wes Anderson's brain (of course, it comes as no surprise that the Graves' favorite movie is Moonrise Kingdom). The decor, from the canoe hanging on the wall to the artful arrangement of the handpicked products, evokes the summer camp vibe perfectly (they even burn a locally-made "campfire" scented candle in the store). And, like any good summer camp, they offer all kinds of classes and lessons on everything from calligraphy to medicine making to flower crown weaving. Whether you're looking for the perfect trinket for your coolest friend or you want some perfect design inspiration of your own, Summer Camp will help transform you from a wannabe into a full-on hipster." -Roadtrippers
