Confirmed by 1 users | Last reported on December 06, 2021We were at Wheeler Gorge just as pandemic guidelines were tightening. Only one site in five or six was occupied, so it was very quiet. There are vault toilets but otherwise no services whatsoever, you’ll need to pack everything in. The lower loop is one way and some sites like ours (68)required backing around a 135 degree turn, which we couldn’t do without using the vacant adjacent site as the road is narrow and lined with boulders. Some sites are entirely private, others blends right into each other. Other sites have easier access. Some sites are adjacent to the highway, others have beautiful views of the creek or gorge. Zero cell phone reception, TV or WiFi, no water, dump station or power. There’s a very short nature trail; any other hiking means leaving the sites by car.

Great pull through site, we had two trailers and it was perfect. No cell service do be prepared for being disconnected. Nearby nature center has coffee and great for the kids.

Very beautiful wooded campground with a creek running through. The sites vary from a few pull throughs to large tent sites. Some are really private and some are near the road. We are car campers and we had a large private site by the creek. There’s no water here and no showers. Vault toilets are pretty clean. This site might be difficult for big rigs. But great for tents, cars and small vans. We loved how peaceful and beautiful it was. The host was super friendly and helpful. Picnic tables should be replaced. Ours was pretty funky. No cell service or wifi. Senior rate was half price.
