Confirmed by 1 users | Last reported on May 27, 2023This campground is about 10-15 min from I-80 around the Starved Rock. So if you’re just passing through you may want to find something closer. There is no cell service at all.
However - it was REALLY PRETTY and well maintained. There is a nice office/grocery. There is a sweet creek running through it. We paid for the premium site - which we believe is the only one with full hookups. If you get this site, it is just before the office. We drove right past it!
Also, it was secluded from the other parts of the campground so it was quiet. We noticed the other areas were a little noisier but it may have just been a very happy group.
The other sites we saw seemed spacious and had water and electric.
We will stay again as we travel across I-80. For us, it was worth the trek.

Julie’s review nailed it. Nice place, just a little tight in spots with the 5th wheel. 1 bar of VZW with hardly nobody here on a Wednesday night.

Rough entrance drive coming down off the main road, it was under construction and it was soon apparent the campground finishes no project. We stayed in the highlands and the sites are on grass and were very unlevel. Right side of trailer was on 4 blocks and tongue was on the ground. Power and water hookups at the site were good. One bar Verizon service, Wi-Fi available for $6/day. Firewood $7.50 for 5 small pieces. Nephews liked fishing in the pond, but water was dyed blue which was odd and half of the shoreline was tore up by a bulldozer. My kids couldn’t sleep - the neighbors were up until 1am partying both nights, quiet hours were not enforced. You are paying a premium price for a mess of a campground, stay elsewhere.

I stayed here two nights, the Thursday and Friday before Memorial Day. The first night in spot #215 and the Friday night in #235. Spot #215 was a grassy location on the side of a hill. A real head scratcher that that location was considered suitable for an RV. It was not the exception There were many spots just like it. I needed to stay another night and thought that would be fine if I could get a different location. They cheerfully moved me to #235, a ‘level’ gravel spot. It was much easier to back into but still had considerable slope to it.
The WiFi network was $6/day. I declined to pay for it but was able to connect to it at times anyway.
I used the laundry facility and the shower. Both we’re fine.
You do need to take a gravel road into the park. For your trouble it brings you to a lovely wooded area that is far away from traffic or railroad noises. The first night, when the campground was mostly empty, it was very peaceful. As I drove in the general area of the campground, I spotted bald eagles and wild turkeys.
