“the best getaway in Illinois”
Starved Rock Lodge and Cabins were built from 1933 to 1939 by the Depression-Era Civilian Conservation Corps. The lodge and cabins originally cost between $200,000 and $300,000 to build. Starved Rock State Park’s Lodge and Cabins were listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places on May 8, 1985 as part of the Illinois State Park Lodges and Cabins Thematic Resources Multiple Property Submission. Relax in the rustic beauty and comfort of Starved Rock Lodge, Cabins, & Starved Rock Inn. The historic Lodge has 70 guest rooms, which include three bay-window rooms. Fireplaces can be found in four of eight sunset cabins near the pool area. The Lodge and cabins are open year ’round. A garden-like indoor pool complex offers a 26′x 54′ pool, hot tub, children’s pool, two saunas, and poolside tables for year-round fun and relaxation. Starved Rock State Park & Lodge is the best getaway in Illinois if you enjoy outdoor adventure, history, great architecture and fun! Hiking, swimming, shopping, special events, educational programs, park activities & much more are offered year ’round. Bring your camera. An adventure is waiting for you in the heart of Illinois: LaSalle County! The Starved Rock Lodge is reportedly haunted by the ghosts of the Native Americans who once fought a battle nearby. Guests have reported seeing a black apparition and strange orbs of light, and they have felt cold spots and experienced doors that open and close by themselves! The actual main lodge building itself is haunted, but not the surrounding cabins, so ghost enthusiasts would be better off booking in the main building!
