“Just like the english one only 14% shorter”

The Stonehenge replica is located on the campus of the University of Texas of the Permian Basin in Odessa in Ector County, Texas. About 20 stone blocks, similar in size, shape, and appearance to the ancient Stonehenge in southwestern England, were unveiled in the summer of 2004. The replica matches the original Stonehenge horizontally, but it falls some 14% short in height from the English monument. The tallest stone on the original is 22 feet, while the highest in the Odessa version is 19 feet. While the original may have taken 2000 years to complete, the replica was placed at UTPB in six weeks. The stones were moved two at a time on tractor-trailers and lifted into place on footings made of reinforced concrete. The original Stonehenge marked the summer and winter solstices. The replica is the dream of a citizens group who believe the exhibit will draw visitors from Interstate 20 and also enhance the cultural environment of the dusty West Texas city. Each stone weighs more than 20,000 pounds and is composed of limestone slabs donated from the quarry of TexaStone of Garden City in Glasscock near Big Spring, Texas. The exhibit can be accessed at any time off East University Boulevard in Odessa. Admission is free.

Worth the hassle. Once you get on the driveway (off the main strip of restaurants, shops, etc.) easy access. My young kids, teenagers, husband, and I think it is an awesome place to take visitors. We now live in Big Spring and still make the trip if we get friends or family in.

Difficult to get to, and bad traffic on the roads around it.

It’s really exactly as advertised. A full scale (I think) replica of Stonehenge but made out of limestone from the surrounding Permian Basin. I had no trouble getting to it despite what some of the older reviews say. It’s a great stop if you just wanna see something kinda out of place and you can learn some of the history of the real Stonehenge while you’re there.

This may have been confusing to get to a few years back but was an easy detour from the highway; right on campus, surrounded by student housing. Great little stop to stretch your legs especially if you’ve been in the car for a while.
Definitely helped run a little energy out of our toddler.

Easy to find and look at but not much more to see on the campus.

It was easy to find. It's easy to see from the road but worth getting out and walking around. Took pictures of the family and my kids running around playing.

Pretty neat place to stop and visit; both of my kids, my husband, and myself enjoyed it. It is easy to get to; just off of the main road. Would definitely stop and visit again if we are ever in the area!

Favorite stop on my way to Marfa. Totally worth it. Very random, cool, and great pictures. Apple maps had trouble finding it, but switched to Google and we were good. Definitely go here. So glad we found this on Roadtrippers.
