“partial hook ups & pavilion”

Guajome Regional Park is located in the coastal community of Oceanside and has a little bit of everything that San Diego County offers. A developed 33-site campground offers partial hook ups, a caravan pavilion, shade and afternoon ocean breezes. Two day use areas with new playgrounds, a basketball court and lots of green lawn are ideal for picnicking or just relaxing.  Two ponds attract a wide variety of migratory birds and serve as home to a variety of fish that will test the skills of any angler. 4.5 miles of park trails meander through diverse Southern California habitats such as woodlands, chaparral, wetlands, and mixed grasslands.  Wedding ceremonies can also be held in a small gazebo that overlooks the lake. To inquire about wedding services simply call the park at the number listed above.  There are 35 sites with full hookups (30 amps) for tents or RVs up to 45 feet; a few sites are pull-through. Picnic tables and fire grills are provided.

This is a lovely campground with a nice natural preserve around it. The spots are spaced widely apart (at least in comparison to the RV park I was in before visiting Gaujome), and even though the campground is in the midst of suburban California the park feels peaceful and has lots of nature sounds (birds chirping, etc). There is a lake to walk around, and a nice path through a reedy bog type thing. I'll visit again!

We spent more nights here than planned due to an ill pup but it was quite nice. The park itself is super clean and very maintained. The park rangers drive around often to make sure people who aren't suppose to be there, aren't and they are also super friendly. They do say you can only have one pet and they charge you per pet ($1).
We arrived on a Friday afternoon and the booth was closed so we just pulled into our spot. As we drove through the next day we got our tickets for the vehicle + trailer. Again, the booth attendant was also very friendly.
The park has some great running and biking trails which are nice. There is also this great little outdoor workout facility with a chin up bar, some machines, and a box to jump on. What a nice surprise!

Guajome was a great stop for us. We ended up staying twice within a couple of weeks. We initially did an overnight in transit from Pauma Valley to Dana Point. It was a great stop with partial hook ups and a dump site to refresh our tanks, shower, and relax from boondocking. The sites are large, quiet, and very welcoming. You need to have your toad hooked up or they will charge you for the vehicle-no charge if connected on entry. There are great walking trails, a little pond, playground structures, and an outdoor gym. Walking on the trail outside of the park, I did encounter some homeless, but nothing too concerning. Only a few miles from the beach and only $29! Great option for Oceanside area! Please see my blog for some great photos of the park

We used to live in nearby Vista, and needed a place while we were visiting family in Carlbad. Water and electric hookups, but no sewer. However, there is a dump station at no extra charge. The bathrooms were clean, coin operated showers (bring your quarters). We have a 29' fifth wheel and fit very nicely into our spot. #28 has very nice shade trees and more private than other spots. It was pretty level, but not asphalt. The fire ring was closer to the RV than I would like, and there was limited space for my son's large tent but we made do. The next spot over #30 also has very nice shade trees and the fire ring is further from the RV, and there is more room for a tent. The spaces closer to the entry are closer together and not as private. The park has over three miles of hiking trails. The lake can be accessed in a few areas, but there are no lake actifvities (no boating, etc.) but I believe catch and release fishign is allowed. The park rangers monitored the park regularly, and saw to it that park rules were being followed (no hammocks in trees, dogs on leashes). I teach on-line, and I use Unlimited To Go/AT & T with a Netgear Blackhawk hotspot/router. I had an excellent connection at all times. I had phone coverage with AT & T, but I do not use it as a hotspot. Our antenna did not work for TV, but we could stream/access TV using the hotspot and fire stick. There is noise from nearby HWY 76, but when in the RV we barely hear it, if at all. If you need something, Walmart/Target and just about everything else is close by. If you want the best Italian food - go to the Marco on E. Vista Way in Vista.

This park is $29 for W/E (both 30 and 50 amp) plus $5 online booking fee and $1 a day for pets (makes no sense, but this is definitely a CA thing) with an easily accessed dump station.
It is pretty with tons of hiking/walking/biking within it's boundaries and nearby, including a paved path that goes 8 miles to the ocean. Our site was level and somewhat private (most were) including some spacing and mature growth between sites, and our utilities worked perfectly. It was a little bit of work getting into our site, but ours and a few others could accommodate a bigger RV. The rangers and camp hosts were very friendly and made check-in very easy.
The CG is ideally located, an easy 8 mile drive to the beach and 1.5-4 miles from everything else you might want- groceries, gas, laundry, restaurants, etc. Our Verizon worked perfectly, but if you care, there are 0 over the air TV stations. Aside from being a little tight for driving a large RV (and based on the tire tracks we weren't the only ones who struggled), the main draw back of the park is the dirt... actually, the mud. We had a few days of rain at the beginning our stay, and while our pad was concrete, the area around our RV and all the paths do not dry out quickly and turn into super sticky mud. It was hard to get out and enjoy the trails and even stepping out of the RV was a mess. Had we stayed here when all they had was sunshine, it could be a different story, instead it was a huge mess even days after we hadn't seen a drop. I don't usually complain about these things... mud, ants, etc... we're camping right?! However, this place got messier than most and stayed that way. That said, this is a great spot, we would definitely stay here again, and we've already recommended it to nearby family.

I had to look at the other reviews to see what people DIDN'T like about this place; ok, mosquitos... there is a LOT of standing water around here so yeah, I could see that being a problem during mosquito season, but I was here in January, so I didn't see it, and I've traveled extensively through the South and East so I don't think we could possibly have anything that equals Florida in July. Between the fear of being eaten alive by bugs and my dog eaten by an alligator, I couldn't get out of the South Fast enough. But that's another review...
Ok, the bathrooms are definitely campground-chic, but they're clean and tidy. That said, yeah, this isn't the place if you're a potty-snob. I'm an RV'er and I have that kinda thing handled so this place was amazing. Beautiful hiking trails for my pup; don't off-road there are paw-stickies and poison oak about (they have tried to mark it). Super nice sites with loads of room and all laid out so that you're not staring in your neighbor's windows or having to enjoy dinner with them AND their 10 kids right outside your door. Nice fire pits, if you like fire, which I don't. A lovely pavillion if you need something for a gathering. The "lake" is more of a big duck pond. I avoided it because of the fair amount of "goose goodies" my dog tends to hoover up. LOADS of trees. Lots of shade. Close to everything in San Diego, and a fair amount in OC where I'm from. There just isn't much in the way of nice campgrounds with hook ups nearby. For $29 this is a must go to. Bring the bikes for the kiddos; lots of very safe bike riding area. 5 bars for ATnT if you work from "home" like I do. Don't know about Verizon. Don't care. But if you don't want to hear the kiddos whine they aren't "connected," and you're with AT&T, this place has your back. ;)

We love this place. It's quiet, even though it's full of campers. It's close to town, breweries, shopping, and only 15-20 minutes from downtown Oceanside and the beach. There is so much wildlife. We've heard owls and toads/frogs and seen an abundance of bunnies and ducks. There are plenty of walking trails and there is a wonderful playground too. The rangers are nice and the place is clean. The sites are smaller, but they aren't too close together. We were in spot 24, which is nice, but if we stay again we will stay in site 32. Only one neighbor and the overlook is the walking trails. The bathrooms have showers and the sites have electric and water. There is also a dump station too. Good ATT signal download at 76mbps and upload is 20mbps.

Quiet and peaceful setting. Lots of trails to explore. Site 22 was perfect for our 34 ft RV to have the slide and awning out.

Clean restrooms and affordable showers ($1.25 for 10 minutes). Strong Verizon reception. Free dump station.

The campground is in a regional park and has 33 sites. Both park and campground felt secure and were well-maintained. There are walking and biking trails as well as a small lake in the park (no boating or swimming). The campground and park were quiet on the weekdays we stayed, and ocean breezes kept things comfortable. It’s located midway between Interstate 5 and Interstate 15, about 7 miles inland from the beach.
