“beautiful cascading water”
Oregon's second highest waterfall, Salt Creek Falls is a popular place for visitors to relax. Viewing platforms are wheelchair accessible and allow sightseers to view the entire 286-foot (87-m) plunge of Salt Creek. Salt Creek creates one of the most impressive waterfalls in Oregon as it hurtles 286 feet into a gaping canyon near Willamette Pass. The size of the falls isn't terribly notable in the area, but rather the process by which the falls were formed. Glaciers scoured the valley out during the last Ice Age, then following their retreat, lava flows filled in a portion of the valley, creating the narrow canyon walls composed of columnar basalt that are now seen at the falls. Views are afforded all along the canyon rim, from the brink of the falls to the base of the falls.

The first time I brought my Midwestern wife here, she described it as the type of place she only imagined in fairy tales. Hike down to the foot of the falls for great photo ops.
We got to the restrooms and according to on line directions. take road 5893. Saw the sign on a gate, a gravel road. traveled for a short distance and came upon three gravel roads, went left and again came upon three graveled roads. Narrow roads also. Turned around and left, after passing a car coming up. Very trying. Never saw any falls or signs.
The falls were beautiful and it was just off the highway. We stopped to see the falls and eat lunch. The Mosquitos were awful!
