My husband, 7 month old son and I are roadtripping and camping making our way to the Grand Canyon and decided to stop at Bonito Hollow for the night. We were greeted by a super friendly staff, Christine (not sure if I have her name right) in particular was super helpful. The campsite was beautiful, clean and family/pet friendly. Would definitely visit again and stay longer! Oh and if no one is in the front office just find someone on the golf carts and they can probably help you!

This is a great Family and dog friendly campground with the Bonito River running thru it. I stayed here for 2 months at the monthly rate and then various other shorter visits. Not only are the owners super accommodating, this place is right next to the National Forest where hiking abounds. The park is very dog friendly and you will frequently see their big Lab, Tango running beside their golf cart. There is dog walk area and can even use that for frisbee or throwing your dog a ball. I love site #32, its a full hookup which is not always my thing, but the site is just too good to pass up. However, if you do want this spot, you will have to reserve early! They also have about 19 sites next to the river. I love those spots and was in one of them early in my first visit. However, children like to play and throw rocks in the river and that upset Q because she wanted to go play with them! So site #32 is a pull thru as are all those sites in that row. I also like sites #24 or #53. #24 is a pull through also but does have quite a bit of shade if you have dogs and its summer time. I haven't stayed in #53 which is a back in site but I wouldn't be afraid to try it if "my spot" #32 was not open. Lots of hummingbirds migrate thru here and you will hear Wild Turkeys at dusk.

So for the downside, no connectivity, no cell service. The park is located in the this valley and so even though very close to Ruidoso, no cell phone service. The park does have WiFi near the bathhouse which works great near the bathhouse. The owners have put out benches and chairs so people can use the WiFi in comfort.

So much to do here, Hike the Bonito/Argentina Trail (Q's favorite for the river crossings), Hike Nogal Canyon around the mountain, Hike in town at Cedar Creek, Bonito Lake is closed until probably 2016 or later, but it is still beautiful to see, their is a horse stable back in the National Forest that does horseback guide rides. I haven't had a chance to do the horseback riding since Q would rather hike than stay at home.

Day trips to Cloudcroft, NM or even White Sands NM. Also Lincoln, NM see the courthouse jail where Billy the Kid escaped, visit Hubbard Museum (lots of Western and horse displays).

Lovely, clean park, dog friendly and lots of shady spots. The real blessing is the fabulous staff who go out of their way to help and to assure a great experience. There was no cell service at our site, but a short walk up to the office allowed us to make calls. (We have Verizon)

Myself, my 2 siblings and our spouses camped at Bonito Hollow for 5 nights late Aug '18. We were happy they were able to accommodate our request to be placed together. It took some doing, but they did it! We had 3 mh's - 40' w/ toad, 25' w/toad and a 32' w/o toad.

My brother was on his first trip with his 40' mh pulling his pickup, and was a bit nervous about the turn in as it has a fairly steep downhill in a short distance before stopping at the check in. (he didn't admit to that though...but I could tell!). After check in, We were escorted us to our sites. All of us had no problem getting into our spot. Two of us faced each other and overlapped awnings, which was nice because the sun was bright and hot much of the time so that gave us a shady place to sit.

We had fhu, picnic table, fire ring and toad parking. They came around each evening with firewood for purchase and placed it in the ring for you. The dumpster was handy and the bathhouse was fairly close by. The guys used the shower in the bathhouse and enjoyed the long, hot shower, but I wasn't so lucky. I went in the women's one night to take a shower and there was no hot water in either of the 2 showers I tried. It could have been user error (faucet was opposite?) because the next night I got hot water. The bathrooms are kinda old, but very clean. I was a bit leary of the shower curtain though.

There is a sand volleyball court, nice dog park, dog walking area, play area by the river, covered group Pavilion with tables & BBQ (to rent), etc.

Each employee we dealt with was friendly and helpful. There was no trash and everything was groomed so it's obvious they take great care of the place. Be forewarned, none of our group had cell service (AT&T and Verizon) in the campground. Our satellites all found south and the WiFi was excellent...best at any cg I've been to. We were near the bathrooms, and other reviews mentioned the antenna is there, but I believe there are a couple on the Pavilion as well. Due to the great WiFi, we all set our phones to "WiFi calling" which allowed us to use our phones for calls/texts. Neat trick I learned right before this trip!

The only con was the campsites are pretty close to each other...had we not been next to family, I'd have been a bit uncomfortable!

Great place and well located to Riudoso, Smoky Bear Museum, hiking and lakes. I recommend Bonito Hollow if in the Riudoso NM area.

This privately owned park is outside Alto, and is about a 15 minute drive to downtown Ruidoso. There are about 60 sites. Some are W/E and others are FHUs. Some are pull through sites and others are back in. Our site, #25, is a W/E back in. Sites 34-35 look like buddy sites. The sites are gravel as are the interior park roads. There are lots of trees so it is tight for a long rig (we are 38 feet) but doable. Right now it is muddy in areas due to the daily rains that are happening. There is free Wifi provided – it is slow but has been working OK but stopped working once the park became full for the weekend. We get no OTA air TV nor any cell phone service from Verizon or ATT. A few miles toward Ruidoso both cell signals work. Since it’s been raining every day, we did not try to put up our portable dish at first; once we set it up, it worked fine. We are in the mountains at about 7000’ in elevation. The restrooms, showers, and laundry are still closed due to Covid. The work camper said she did not know when they will re-open. There is a small dump station we used. There is a nice pavilion that groups can rent for the day. Several bear carvings are scattered around the park and there is a small relaxing river park next to the Rio Bonito. There is also a dog park. The park is convenient to visiting Ruidoso, Ruidoso Downs, Capitan (Smokey the Bear history), Lincoln (Billy the Kid history, Fort Stanton (19th century western history), and other places along the Billy the Kid Scenic Byway. It is a very pretty area and we would like to return for a longer visit but we’d only stay here if we can get one of the FHU sites in the last row of the campground.
