At the southern end of the Wild Rivers area, this point atop the gorge rim overlooks the confluence of the Rio Grande and the Red River, with good views over the plateau and of the distant mountains. A short interpretive trail runs from the parking lot to the rim itself, making it an easy place to hop out of the car and get a quick look.

Confirmed by 1 users | Last reported on May 29, 2023This campsite in the Wild Rivers Recreation Area (BLM) only has 3 sites and is at the top of the gorge, almost at the point of the confluence. It's where we cut our teeth spring time camping in New Mexico. Too awesome!
Tent camped here many times. No pads / hookups for an RV or trailer. Sites have metal shelters, a picnic table, and grill. Water spigot is close by. Pit toilets.
For animals, some evenings bighorn sheep will amble through, or a Mexican Jay will try to steal your dog's food.
Two things to be aware of:
1 - Watch where you put your feet and gear. Red ants are active.
2 - Wind can be an issue. I've put up breaks that have been shredded.
At night! The stars are phenomenal!!

Arrived after dark and found quickly there were only three tent sites. Found the unoccupied one. While there’s no pads, the ground is level and takes a stake pretty easily. Great views of the Sangres from the sites. Quiet, though on Memorial Day weekend, the sounds of motorcycles racing up and down the highway in Questa can be heard due to the Red River Motorcycle Rally.
