Confirmed by 4 users | Last reported on May 13, 2024Pull through level sites with great wifi and cell service. Big Rig friendly. 50 amp service. The site itself is fairly small, but easy in and out and no need to wind into the mountains to find a campsite.
There is a creek that runs past the back of the campground and a mini golf course that wasn’t open when we were there, perhaps due to Covid. More than 1/2 of the campers appear to be permanent. The owner was very friendly and accommodating.
Newport has all the essentials including a Walmart, Lowe’s and a number of restaurants. There are truck stops at Newport for fueling needs.

We paid $45 cash for a FHU pull thru site. We did not have to disconnect and had about 16 feet to spare while pulling a 34 foot trailer. We were able to get a Dish satellite signal. Free wifi was good enough to stream a HD movie while web surfing. It looks like over half the sites are full time residents and everyone we spoke to was nice. A lot of things for kids to do, fishing, playground, putt putt golf, etc. This is an older park in need of some TLC and upgrades. Note that this campground is behind a Loves Travel Stop and about 1/4 mile east of the I-40 interchange. We experienced A LOT of truck noise with only a 3 mph west wind. A strong west or north wind would make this campground unbearable IMHO. For us, it was perfect for an overnight stop and we would do it again weather permitting.

Office is closed, no WiFi code, other than that ok. Not a 4 in our experience a solid 3. Looks sketchy but a safe 1 night stop.

The very friendly staff met us at the entrance and guided our 42 foot + tow. Very well maintained park, gravel pad on a grassy site under beautiful trees. We enjoyed a nice fire for the evening. Many long term campers but several sites open when we visited.
