“merrrrr come enjoy our yachts, darling”
For more than 30 years, the Museum of Yachting (MoY) has worked to preserve the culture and heritage of yachting. Today the Museum still celebrates the traditions of yachting through informative exhibits, lectures, literature, education and regattas. The museum and library are in a handsomely restored space inside the 1831 Aquidneck Mill on the IYRS campus. Perched on the top floor, they command extraordinary views of Newport harbor and its entrance from Narragansett Bay. Every year, new exhibits of art and historical artifacts are presented that draw members of the community and yachting enthusiasts. IYRS hopes to attract a broad cross-section of people to this space, especially community youth who will be able to discover their maritime roots while enjoying one of the best aerial views in Newport.
