Popular and remote SP CG in Mich's. UP. Many sites, water, electric and separate dump station. Sites border and inland lake, yet only fifty yards from Lake Superior's agate beaches. A greatplace for fishing, swimming, relaxing and wildlife observation.
A sand road travels the Lake's shoreline through remote forests along Superior's waterfront. Agate hunting, beach combing, sight seeing and day dreaming are a full day's activities. If the weather is nice it is great, if it is stormy it is even better. Just bring proper clothing. The woods are full of deer, bear, moose and partridge. The lake is full of trout, perch and musky. The skies are full of waterfowl and raptors.
The C/G is semi-wooded, grassy, well maintained and gret for family and/or sportsmen.

Felt s little expensive for a state park plus you need a permit($9) on top of camp fee. Electric only but water and dump at CG. Has a beach and boat launch. Didn’t use restrooms but look nice.

We love state parks and Michigan has some of the best. Muskallonge Lake is just a very short walk from Lake Superior, but relatively sheltered from the inclement weather that can appear in what seems like a matter of minutes. The sites are grassy and well spaced but can be tricky to get a 27' trailer into. We stayed in Section 1, but after having explored the campsite in person might have chosen a site in Section 2 to accommodate our length. For those out-of-staters who are not used to this process, Michigan (like other Midwest states) requires a use permit (recreation passport) for each vehicle (in addition to the camp fee) which can be purchased online ahead of time or at the park registration. There are geese at this site, but they (nor their poop) was a problem for us during our late-August visit. Gorgeous views over Muskallonge Lake and Lake Superior is breathtaking. Agates can be found along the lakeshore if you know what you are looking for!! Very quiet, incredibly dark skies filled with stars and a couple of tremendous summer thunderstorms made for a memorable stay. The park is about 40 miles east of Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore (via an unpaved road) and within easy reach of the Tahquamenon Falls, the Shipwreck Museum at Whitefish Point and the fascinating locks at Sault Ste. Marie. All-in-all - a winner.

Park is between an inland lake and Lake Superior. Amazing location and views. Facilities were excellent and well maintained - park staff were on top of things. Sites themselves are only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars, as they’re small and close together. Definitely don’t get site 52 as it’s on a corner with roads on two sides. It was only spot open when we showed up without a reservation so we were happy to get it however. Modern bathrooms and showers were immaculately maintained. Shower power was a little disappointing. Very nice hosts who seem very engaged in the park. Would definitely recommend.

This was just a stopover night on the way further west. Site 53 is the first one on the loop and was pretty spacious. If you get up early, it's a short walk to the shores of Lake Superior and on a clear day you can see the sunrise. Cell connection was slow.

We scored a decent site in the front of the playground. It was more private than the other sites in the first loop. The first main loop is basic open rv parking, large sites but fully open. The sites further back are more shaded and have more trees.
Bathrooms are clean and showers are hot. The rangers work hard to make sure they clean the moths out of the buildings by hosing them down.
Be prepared, the little black moths are EVERYWHERE, but I’ll take that anyway over mosquitos.
The lake is nice, and Lake Superior is within walking distance.
Not a lot of cell phone service in the UP so be prepared. Doesn’t seem to matter what provider you have.
This campground went silent at 9pm. We felt like the noisy ones with a fire still going til ten.

Stayed mid July 2021. Nice park. Clean clear lake with nice little swimming beach. Some small biking trails in woods kids were having fun riding. Lake Superior not visible from campground, but short walk across street through wooden trail. Nice sunsets out there. Great base for SxS riding to Grand Marais, east side of pictured rocks, Mouth of Two Hearted river, lighthouses, Tahquamenon Falls, and more. Little to non existent Verizon cell service. Read the review on site 53, and stood on it, but no bars there. Don’t count on Verizon in this area. WiFi at the front office if you stood close to it or nearby picnic table. AT&T iPad with 2-3 bars.

There are several loops in this campground, the first one is more out in the open and looked like it had very little privacy. It was also the most crowded. Maybe there are fhu sites there, I can't imagine what else the attraction would be. The other 2-3 loops are more in the woods with lots of shade and privacy between sites. We stayed in 153 which was close to the boat ramp, very shady, very nice. NOTE: if you need potable water in your RV, get it at the sanitation station on the right just after the check-in kiosk. The spigots throughout the loop do not have hose fittings, they are bucket only spouts.
There is a beautiful trail (part of the the North Country Trail) that leads through the forest and goes along a very steep washed away cliff along Lake Superior for a short while. You can't get down to the beach unless you tumble down, and it would be a long tumble!
We loved it here!!

With limited cell phone service it was great to connect with the people around me. I want to thank one of the Conservation officer personally Jeff. Jeff I went above and beyond making my stay there memorable.
