Confirmed by 1 users | Last reported on June 24, 2021When driving I94 I always stop to see Sweet Sue, the world's largest plaster Holstein cow. She never disappoints to amaze me. So, this visit, it was time to find a campground, but not much around in this part of N.D. I called the local mobile home park and nice lady there referred me to North City Park, just up the road from Sweet Sue. North City Park is part of a park complex and managed by the local museum (turn there to get to park). Electric and water, no sewer dump, but there is one at a rest area out on 94. About 12 or 13 sites Extremely quiet, even though there is a ball field and playground right there. It was very pleasant although sites are placed facing north instead of south for Dish. A really nice stop and maybe worth a stay to explore New Salem. Ball fields and playgrounds bodes poor for busy summer weekends, but it was great in late August weekday. Camp in shadow of Sweet Sue.

Very well maintained park. Site was level. Quiet, no train or traffic noise that we could hear. It’s set back off the road behind a football field so it’s a little hard to see but our GPS took us right to it. There are a couple gas stations at this exit and a well stocked Dollar General. We hit both for a restock before we left.

Great overnight stop off the interstate without the road noise. Sites were all clean and relatively level dirt/gravel sites. Large playground nearby.

Turn in next to the museum. Too early in the year for water hookups but the electricity was nice to have at 18 degrees. Short walk into town for any groceries at super friendly Tellman’s grocery store.

Stayed here for 7 days while taking a break between our RV-centric volunteer projects! We had never been to North Dakota before and this was our first stop. Stayed for 2-nights the first time and then opted to come back after our COE visit by Lake Sakakawea for an additional 5.
The park is city owned and managed. It is in spectacular condition, with a new playground and excellent picnic tables. The trees block the afternoon sun and you really won't hear any freeway traffic because it's far enough away.
Specifics:
Golf: this park is adjacent to the town's small and well-kept 9-hole golf course.
Traffic: there are periodic day time visitors to the park, especially families who like to make use of the playground. Not at all bothersome for us.
Parking: If parking in site 7 and long, you'll need to bear left and drive to the turn around and then come back.
Facilities:
Power: stable and clean 50A power with newer pedestals.
Water: great pressure so bring your reducer just in case. We just filled and used our water pump.
Dump: None on site but there is an RV dump for customers at Rud's I-94 Mobil fuel station at the freeway intersection. Free for customers there.
Internet - we have all 3 big carriers in our coach. If you have FMCA's Sprint coverage, this place had what we needed and were able to pull down 15-20mbps LTE-A (two or more bands of coverage). AT&T and Verizon were both great as well. See why we liked this place just to hang out and get caught up on our program work?? :)

We stayed at the North Park Campground for a night while on our way to Idaho. It was clean, easy to find (signs pointing us to behind the school football field), quiet, and clean. Sue the cow is nearby, which was a fun little spot to hike up to. The park had a newer playground, which our kids appreciated. Had water and electric hookup. Phone coverage was good.
This is a small city park. There's not much around, so I don't think we would stay more than a night.

Found this campground on this website and it was a gem! We arrived on a Friday in late August 2020 and after setting up we noticed many cars pulling into the parking area of the football field, to our surprise there was a game that evening. Great community! Sites were level and ample in size. Golfing directly behind the campground along with a kids playground. Salem Sue park near by, Short drive to New Salem lake for kayaking, water and electric, charcoal grill provided at site. Gas station 1/2 mile for dumping.

Nice little city run campground, sitting right underneath the World’s Largest Holstein Cow, Salem Sue! We paid $20/nt, booked online. The rate included water and electric only. There is an RV dump 0.7mi up the road, easy in and out. Just a nice, quite, clean, lots of trees campground. We enjoyed playing on the new playground equipment, even though we are well past the age of playing on playgrounds. :) Well kept park. Would definitely stay here again.

Quick easy stop right off highway. Book ahead and pay online. Didnt seem to be any camp host on sight however phone calls were promptly answered. When you book online you select your site. There were not pics or maps for reference when I booked. We randomly selected site 4 however on arrival our site was already occupied. Called the number and they said to select any other open site. Told him we were going to take site 1 and he advised us the 50A plug wasnt working but that was fine bc we are 30A...we did note that the briken 50A plug was not labeled broken so if I had not called and needed 50A that would have been annoying to have to move.
If site numbers dont matter would be clearer to not require a site selection at booking.
Could be a great stop with a little site management and labeling broken items.
Dump at gas station down street.
