Confirmed by 1 users | Last reported on October 24, 2017We originally only planned on staying one night, but the peaceful serenity set on a beautiful lake called to us and we stayed an extra night. Apparently it's one of the top 3 bass fishing lakes in Mississippi, and many of the spots have their own man made peninsulas that reach out into the lake.

Our site (most do) backed right onto Davis Lake. A Blue Heron seemed to live right behind us and even let me take a few photots of him.
Site has a paved pad for the trailer, with a raised gravel patio about 30' by 30' with a BBQ, Fire Ring, Picnic table and post for hanging your lantern.
Camp Host very friendly and they keep the campsite spotless.
Reservations can be made online and we would recommend doing so during the summer months.
This campground is open year round and is only 4 miles from the scenic Natchez Trace Parkway (exit at mile marker 243.1).

Wow! We had a great site but any site in this campground is just incredible. One of my best campground ever... if not the best. All the sites have a great view on the water. You can fish, you can swim. We were here in December (we almost had the place all for ourselves), it must be even more astonishing in the summer (there is a beach and a playground for kids). 20$ with electricity, 14$ otherwise. Sites are perfectly leveled. Free showers. Lake full of bass. Very large sites. 4 miles away from the Natchez Trace. What else can you ask for? Too bad it's 2000 miles from home, we would be here more often.

This is a beautiful setting - pretty lake, lots of trees, paved & mostly level sites. Sites 9 and up are near a nice bath house. Only 5 or 6 sites in use, so it’s quiet. I expect that if the weather were cooler, there would be more people here - I bet it’s pretty when the leaves turn.
Apparently, the camphost is in no hurry to take old reservation notices off the site posts because almost all of them had notices that were out of date and we thought they were booked up until we checked the dates on a couple of them. When we checked with him, both of the sites we liked were available. Also, once you have chosen a site, you have to drive all the way back to the park entrance to use the honor box to pay. Seems like they could put the box at the campground entrance...
Regular nightly fee is $20 but we paid $13 with our pass. Sites have electricity and water.

Davis Lake Recreation Area is situated just 4 miles from the Natchez Trace Parkway. The campground is adjacent to the Eastern shore of the 200 acre Davis Lake. 14 sites are right on the lake front offering spectacular sun rises and evening sun sets, The lake is known to anglers, and wildlife and birds are a given...we had a Great Blue Heron "friend" during our entire stay. The sites were level, paved, and all had nice spacing, picnic tables, fire pits and well cared for electric service (50 amp) and water. Dump station. Bathhouses were clean and laundry was available. Plenty of historic places to visit in the area and groceries are available in Houlka just 4 miles away. We visited in late September with only 6 sites in use...felt like we had the place to ourselves...and being located in the Tombigbee National Forest there was no light pollution making the night sky a spectacular sight to see.

Wife and I planned to stay at this campground for one night while on vacation traveling the Natchez Trace. However, the weather took a turn for the worse and we stayed and extra night to wait on the weather. This campground was a one of the most memorable stays ever on any of our trips. Such a beautiful, quite, peaceful, and just plain relaxing places we have ever camped period. I know I will be back in the spring with my boat to stay a few days and fish this beautiful lake.
Bathrooms, showers, laundry all readily available. We give this campground a 10++++ rating because this is a good as it gets in enjoying a peaceful campground off the beaten path with A1 friendly folks.....I'll be back...
We never turned a cellphone on so we don't know about the cell service? But rest assured...the best campground experience we ever had and we have been rv-ing a long time....
We camped in a Lance slide in truck camper....

This seems like a primarily fishing area, but there is a great beach, small playground, and well kept picnic areas. The campsite can be seen from each other, but are spaced nicely and well equivalent and maintained. Bathrooms are clean and the host very nice and easy to talk to.
If you’re a biker, the Natchez Trace is four miles away and the Tanglefoot Trail only a short distance. Shopping in both n/s directions, about a 25-30 minute drive.

We were traveling on the Natchez Trace and needed to camp for the night. The reservation system here is just wrong. The website will tell you the opposite of what is reserved. I would just call if you need a reservation. Your odds are excellent for a first come first serve due to the website goofiness. The site hosts are wonderful and very accommodating. Bathrooms, showers and grounds are available. Ice is available from the camp host. Nice swimming area adjacent to the campground. Major Shopping is available about 20 mins North. Dollar General (with grocery section) 5 miles west over rough road for 2 miles then it gets better.

We always enjoy staying here.. It is a small campground just off the Natchez Trace. Being part of the National Park they recognize the Sr. Card. Some site are reservable but they also have first come first served sites. Be prepared to pay cash if you don’t reserve.

Stayed here 2 nights in site 14. Plenty of room and good location on lake. Nice peaceful place. There were some empty sites Saturday night in April. Just a few miles from the Trace. We day tripped south. Water available at each site which was a plus. Shower house clean. Showers in private rooms that got a little wet overall. Would go back.
