John Lewden House is a historic home located at Christiana, New Castle County, Delaware. It was built about 1770, and is a two story, five bay, single pile, brick dwelling in the Georgian style. It has a center hall plan and the interior features original woodwork in the parlor and hall. Also on the property is a contributing two-story brick carriage shed (c. 1800). It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979.
8 fireplaces- 7 of those are original. Original random width flooring on first floor. Built by a Quaker cousin of the Corbett ( Sharp) House in Odessa DE.
Owned by Lewden descendants until early 1930s. Then by Dr. Paul Winthrop until 1938.
Purchased 1938 by Col Howard & Mrs. Carolyn A. Greene.
Mrs. Greene gave the land that now comprises Lewden Greene Park to New Castle County for a park in the late 1960s. She sold the house to Adelaide & Peter Green
( unrelated Green) C 1968.
The house has had several owners since.
