DO NOT RENT THIS PROPERTY! The owner's disregard for our families' safety during Hurricane Harvey was unacceptable. Find another house!
FIND SOMEWHERE ELSE! As the organizer of the group booked during the weekend of Hurricane Harvey I can attest to the owners complete lack of regard for our safety and our families. Telling us we should of evacuated and "No flooding here". I'm sure he would have the same stance if you booked a family vacation and had to cancel for a death in your family. Zero compassion, find a decent human being to rent from.
Find somewhere else - I was with a group scheduled to stay in this duplex during Hurricane Harvey. The owner was completely unreasonable and even resorted to making snide comments about our decision to not leave our families while the storm of a lifetime was coming. I do not trust this owner and would suggest you look for something else.
Our group was scheduled to be at this house August, 25th and 26th which was the weekend that Hurricane Harvey devastated Texas. We had a large group coming from all over Texas(including 4 from Houston). With the Hurricane approaching, we reached out to the owner to see about canceling. All of the forecasts we were looking at said 50" of rain in Houston(which we all know happened) and flash flood warnings for all of central Texas. Who in their right mind would leave their families and go to a house on a river. Seems logical right? The homeowner had different feelings. He said that they should have evacuated Houston and come to his place. Are the guys supposed to bring wives, kids so we now have 30 people at a river house. How would you get back into Houston? The homeowner offered us a 50% refund which is unacceptable in a situation like this. With all of the houses for rent on this river, I would recommend renting from someone else. I am still baffled by the arguments this guy made on why we should have come and it is our fault we didn't. This is an an act of God and if any situation deserves a full refund it is this one.
