Sun Retreats Texas Hill Country

We stayed here in late March 2018 and found the park to be very pleasant and quiet . The space we stayed in was at the very back of the park, so it may have been quieter than the front spaces. It is a large resort style park with swimming pool, hot tubs, weight rooms and several large, clean laundry rooms. All of the facilities appear to be new, clean and well maintained. The majority of the tenants appear to be long term winter visitors, or cottage rentals, however they have short term spaces available. This is a typical private park with the sites somewhat close together, but I have seen worse. While their normal overnight rate is higher than I would normally pay, they do accept Passport America cards which brings the rate down. The rate shown in this review is the Passport rate.

The park is centrally located for exploring New Braunfels and the Gruene historic district. It is also close enough to vist San Antonio, riverwalk and the Alamo.

This is a big place, but clean, well run. We enjoyed the outdoor heated pool on a sunny day in Feb. The play ground was wonderful. A lot of residents but cohesive with short termers. Nice location to shopping amenities.

This campground is close to Hwy 35 so there is some traffic noise but has easy access on and off the Highway. There are mature trees between each site which provide shade. Sites are close together and tight. We have a 36 foot fifth wheel and a 40 foot would have had to overhang into the grass to fit. There isn’t much parking if you have a large RV so expect some vehicles will overhang into road which made some site difficult for backing into. Sites are not level especially from front to back. Water pressure was barely in the green on our regulator.

They do charge for children but there are numerous free activities which help to offset the price. The price listed was midweek, included 2 adults and 2 children with a Passport America discount.

Stayed here in November, 2019. Just a one-night stay for us, but could see staying here for several days. The rate above reflects a Passport America discount.
Downside to this park is the size and tightness of the sites. Fairly squeezed (front-to-back, with truck) and side-to-side here. Sites are fairly level, but leveling must be done.
On the upside, we enjoyed the indoor spa, including a pool, hot tub and sauna, while here. There are also lots of other amenities we didn't have the time to check out. Location was very close to I-35 so road noise was a factor, though not too bad.
Would definitely camp here again. The wife really loved it.

Everything is nice here except the highway noise. Modern and clean, nice pools well kept sites.

Probably the nicest RV Resort I’ve stayed at. Absolutely loved it. They have all the amenities you need. Close to downtown and not far from San Antonio. I was a month to month person. Look forward to going again.

We loved this RV park but dang it was expensive. We had a discount code so it was only $80/night but most spots range from $75-$125 a night. This is a normal price for this area and time of year. You also get what you pay for at RV parks so it was worth the money. The resort is wonderful if you have kids. They have all the amenities you could imagine. They do lots of activities for kids, most are free but some you have to pay for. We paid the extra fee to get the spot we wanted because it was on concrete. Most spots are gravel rock. The pool was nice and clean as well as all the showers and bathrooms. Staff was great. Overall a wonderful weeks stay!

A dichotomy. The sites are gravel, sufficient amount, some weeds popping up in between. Picnic table weathered but solid. Paved roads with ruts and bumpy repairs, but at least they are paved. Lots of trees, many sites shaded. Laundry in good condition a folding table but no sink or rolling baskets. Washing machines require payment app ~$2.25/load. Dryers will take coins or app and took the full 45 minutes to dry my laundry. Hookups worked well. AT&T 5G 3-bars. RV park probably was wonderful a few years ago, to me is seems it could be maintained a little better than it is. So probably a few years of slightly less care than required, it is not a 5/5. Also, Very important, I was at a site in the middle of the park and the noise from the freeway was loud. I routinely wear earplugs when I sleep and I still heard and felt the traffic.

This is the perfect location to stay when you are visiting Schlitterbahn! This is a large resort with many different categories of sites for you to choose from. It is extremely clean and well maintained. The sites are average size for a resort setting. The entertainment area has a large pool and hot tub. There is a game room and outside play area. They have a list of activities offered everyday most are free except for the higher price crafts like tie-dye. The staff was very friendly and seemed to want you to have a great time. They even have people on staff that will help problem solve if you run into an issue. We had a problem with the cable, and they sent a gentleman straight to our rig to guide us and assist in getting it connected. The resort on is located close to everything you might want. If you are planning on visiting San Antonio, depending traffic it is about 40 minutes but parking is outrageous!
