“situated on the banks of the Neuse River”
Situated on a bank of the Neuse River and under tall pines and hardwoods, the Neuse River Recreation Area offers secluded campsites, a large picnic area and a sandy beach Stretch your legs on the mile-long paved trail that circles the campground. You can also enjoy the two-mile dirt trail that crosses a lovely tupelo swamp by boardwalk and winds through the mixed pine-hardwood forest. Both trails are open to bikers and hikers, but no motorized vehicles are allowed.
Campground is so close to the beautiful beach. Small campground but nice. I got the walk up spot without reservations and it was pretty covered with trash, plastic bottle thrown in fire pit and old propane bottles in the bushes... Sad... Would be great without the blatant disrespect of nature.
