“what's a dough burger?”
Latham's has been a local landmark for over 50 years. The mainstay is their burger, a unique recipe that is a variation on a doughburger, a regional type of burger. The burger is made from a mixture of meat, seasonings, and "dough". Look up "doughburger" and "slugburger" on the web for more information. The burger is fried and has a very crispy texture on the outside and a softer interior. It's a unique (and very tasty) flavor. The burgers are traditionally served dressed with onion, pickle, and mustard. Sides of fries, tater tots, or onion rings are available. There are other menu items including hot dogs, melted cheese, egg sandwiches, and sometimes a new item shows up. Drinks are served out of a vintage Coca-Cola cooler which is kept stocked with both cans and glass bottles.Latham's is the real deal, and the inside proves it. The interior contains a long countertop and swivel stools salvaged from the original dining car. The red-painted walls are covered with plaques with a variety of sayings and the menu is on a board behind the counter. It's unique. If you want to experience a real local burger joint (not some modern corporate re-interpretation) you MUST visit Latham's. The food is good, the staff is friendly, the interior is unique, and the prices are inexpensive. What more can you ask for? Featured on Burger Land!
