“site of California's largest "hydraulic" mine”

Visitors can see huge cliffs carved by mighty streams of water, results of the gold mining technique of washing away entire mountains to find the precious metal. Legal battles between mine owners and downstream farmers ended this method. The park also contains a 7,847 foot bedrock tunnel that served as a drain. The visitor center has exhibits on life in the old mining town of North Bloomfield.

Earth always has to offer valuable products. At Malakoff Digins State Historic Park, gold was this product which made humans destroy the mountain and excavate it in order to find it.

Now, it might look artistic but truly, this is a result of many historical conflicts between a certain amount of people.

The tunnel is great to see and it makes you wonder how these people could go so deep to the earth's surface.

Don't miss out checking out the Visitors Center in order to get informed about the mining history behind all this.
