Confirmed by 2 users | Last reported on October 20, 2023We arrived at Neah Bay on the Friday of the Labor Day long weekend knowing very well that our chance to snatch of the 10 seaside campsites at Hobuck RV resort were slim. We also knew that Hobuck allowed people to camp in a field down the road near the sea (but no sea view) for $20/night with dry camping (with access to outhouses and showers), but by 3 pm on the Friday, it was already a zoo (the campsites are not marked, it's an open field and it looked more like a music fest than a campground), so we went and checked the Hide-Away RV Park, a new little RV park down the road. It isn't exciting... at first, we thought it was an RV storage place, but we needed to dump and fill and wanted to be at Neah Bay for a few nights, so we decided to stay. It was much more quiet than it would have been at Hobuck and we could easily walk to the beach (100 yards) and our section of beach was much more quiet than Hobuck's. There is a shower in a building (the hot water is reversed, don't do like my girls and take a cold shower thinking there is no hot water). They are building a little espresso cabin at the campground. There are also dry camping sites at the back that are bigger and nicer for $20 (but no dump on site, so make sure you come ready to dry camp if you want those).
The road that leads to Neah Bay is pretty twisty and bumpy (freeze heaves), so secure everything in your rig before driving it and take your time. It's well worth it. Make sure you go to Cape Flattery through the beautiful 1.5 mile hike, it's the NW tip of the Continental US. You need to buy a Makah Reservation Pass before in town.

This campsite is inside of the Makah Indian Reservation. We stopped at the Mini Mart to get a recreation pass. To get to the reservation at all you have to go on state rout 112. This starts out fine but gets more and more narrow and twisty. For a short distance, the paving disappears entirely and pot holes are common and shoulders are sometimes non existant. I was really doubting my choices on that road. Allow extra time if you are pulling a camper.
The campsite itself is behind a litte roadside coffee shop and some cabins, so it's hard to see and the signage is home made and also not that clear. The roads were all paved and passable, no problem getting in. It's a big gravel parking lot with hook ups, but on the sides of the line of sites on each side there is a generous amount of grass and trees. Depending on when you get in, you may have to call the staff, but she showed up quickly, was really pleasant and answered a lot of questions about the area. I did not use the shower house. Our hookups were fine. The sites are standard width really, not too tight and we had no trouble backing in. It was big enough to leave the truck hooked up if we had wanted that. It was Labor Day weekend and there were a good number of campers, but it was not totally full. A lot of people there were taking out boats.
You walk out a little pathway in the back of the lot, cross a road and then you are on Hobuck Beach. The beach was lovely and we took our dogs out there on leash no problem. Not very crowded. Water was very cold to me, but I'm from the Gulf Coast. Lots of people were swimming and surfing but some had on wet suits.
No one was loud in camp and some were friendly. Overall the camp is very quiet.
I remember signal being poor to non existant. We managed to get maps but that's about all.
We went into Neah Bay to see the Museum which was surprisingly good, about archeology digs of the Makah people. Worth it. Also, Cape Flattery is beautiful and a walk that most people can do. We took our dogs on leash to that also.
There's another camp ground there which is run by the tribe and is more expensive and more crowded. I thought this was a good deal for the money.
