We were looking for a no reservation site in a peaceful place that was close to I-80 but far enough that we wouldn't be bothered with highway noise. This is it! About 10 miles off the expressway. We stayed in one of the many tent sites (no W/E) that are plenty big for RVs.
The rate shown is for a tent site which has no water, no electric and no sewer and includes a $5 daily fee for the tow vehicle. W/E sites for RVs are available for a few dollars more but they were all booked up and are pretty close together (this is not a particularly attractive state campground and I would say that the RV sites are unremarkable compared to some of the better state parks we've seen around the country.) But the tent sites are in a different section and are much more spacious. We lucked into what I thought was the best site and it was easily a half acre!
Verizon data was weak here. Don't expect to stream video but it was adequate for email and some light web surfing.

This campground was a very quiet (only 1 other RV in the whole place) and easy stop for us as we were traveling on Hwy 80. It's about 6 miles off the highway. Not much around here. The bathrooms were closed for winter so we can't comment on them. Our site was a huge pull through and perfectly level. We had electric hook up only. Our kids enjoyed the small playground there.

Perfect out-of-the-way place. 94° yet there is a nice breeze. I’m one of two people in the whole place it is 7-11 n and I am a happy camper. Trees are everywhere the beach is very close and the bunnies and the birds are out. $1 will get ya 6 min. shower and it’s clean! Nice staff and they have security. So glad I asked a local wait to go🤗

Very nice campground. Check in was simple, we had a reservation. You can fill your water tank at the dump station near the entrance, we found a spigot near our site to fill up. Our site is close to the lake and I think they are spaced nicely. Doesn’t feel like you are on top of each other. There is a nice trail around the lake, just over 10 miles. Beautiful trees and fall colors.

If your idea of relaxing is a tree shade canopy with grassy spaces in between all the campsites, this is the spot for you. Beautiful lake for SUP or swimming. Pay showers were OK. It started to fill up on Friday but Wednesday and Thursday were very manageable. No problem with Verizon.

We arrived here on a Tuesday in May at about 5:30PM. The place is virtually empty, We found a camp host who showed us which sites were available for a 3 night stay as we wanted a break after traveling every day for a week.We are in site 65, right across from the camp host as this site is nicely shaded and weather prediction was for highs in the 90s today (Wednesday May 11 2022). At this writing at about 4:00PM the temp is about 87F and the A/C is working fine to keep the interior of the RV cool. We took a bike ride this morning, very nice bike paths here. We plan to kayak tomorrow and will continue our journey East on Friday. The RV sites are electric and back in only so you need to arrive with full water and empty holding tanks if you plan to stay long. There is a nice dump station near the entrance that has a separate clean water fill. One thing we have observed is that the "stuff" that falls off the trees is abundant and very sticky so it's best to remove your shoes upon entry to your camper or your floor will be covered with detritus. I also would not advise opening the awning as it seems it would be very difficult to get the the "stuff" off the fabric if it is rolled up without a good cleaning beforehand. A very clean and quiet campground so far, if a bit pricey. One oddity is that reservations can only be made at least 48 hours in advance so if you are traveling, as we are, and not sure of your arrival date you cannot make a reservation for the next day or the same day. This time arriving without a reservation worked out fine as there are plenty of sites to choose from but it may be a different story on a busy weekend.

We camped in a premium reservation-only site on the lakeshore. The site was fantastic! Nebraska uses a reservation system, and the regulations state if a reservable site has been reserved, it cannot be released until noon the following day. Keep this in mind to understand the context of my story. The camp hosts were very sweet and hospitable, which we really appreciated! We did not appreciate that another couple in a class A motor coach, had misled the camp hosts into believing they had a reservation for the night at our prepaid site less than an hour before we arrived. Ultimately, the camp superintendent had to be called out late at night from home to remove them from our pre-paid and reserved site. The squatters were not happy about moving, but lucky for us, they only left a large amount of trash in the fire ring of our site. Petty, but not surprising given their previous dishonesty with the camp host. We did not allow their behavior to ruin our stay, however. We had a lovely morning on the lake, and would definitely consider a return trip!

It lightly rained and we still had a fabulous time! Got to sit by the lake and ride on the bike path. Had a fabulous dinner at the Canyon Lake Brewery and was able to stock up supplies at Walmart in town. Will definitely stay here again.
