Off the beaten path. Five miles of good, 30-40 mph, dirt road to get there. Porta-potie, fire ring and picnic tables at each of the 11 sites. The sites are all within 50 ft of the bay and shaded by huge oaks. The entire campground has a huge view of the water.
Free, but need a permit you can get at myfwc.com/camping or call 850-265-3676

Excellent and its FREE!!!!!!! Dirt road to get there but graded. Port-a-loo, fire ring and picnic tables at each of the 11 sites. Trash cans all over. Day use area and camping area. The sites are large and all within 50 ft of the bay and shaded by huge oaks. They are mostly not level but you my find level areas. The entire campground has a huge view of the water.

Dirt road in was well graded and an easy drive. Sites are large and right on the water. Nice Sandy beach. Free is great- much nicer than others we have paid for in the same general area. We have a fire pit and picnic table plus a nice benches at waters edge.

The campsites all have tables and fire rings, some overlook the bay. It's a wonderful site, and it was all booked out, we had to change sites each night. No water, and only porta johns. The road in is a little rough, but not too bad. It was a releif to come here from the insect ridden forest sites we'd come from, hardly any here. Lots of firewood around.

This is definitely a spot we'll visit again, but it has a few things that wouldn't make it perfect for everyone. On the positive side: well defined campsites, amazingly beautiful spot, near to anything you'd need. On the flip side: no alcohol permitted, ferocious ants and mosquitos, and a sometimes nightly barrage of artillery (not in the campground but the camp is surrounded by the air force base). For more detail, including things to do nearby, please see my blog post:

wow. What a gorgeous spot. Our site was right on the water. Cell coverage was great and overall the campground was clean and inviting. People respectfully used generators only until 8/9pm (which we appreciated) and the fire pit, table and trash service was greatly appreciated for a free site. Really quiet spot. Site is only available through online reservation system and a guy came around on the weekend to check. Make sure you grab a ticket from the kiosk and transpose the info from your email onto it then stick to your post. We didn’t do that and he nicely reminded us to do so. No worries. Only thing to note is that solar opportunities are virtually non-existent. Except maybe for site 5 and 4??? As gorgeous as the large trees with their witches beard moss are, they prevented us from having full electrical capacity and would be a nightmare for any novice attempting to park their rig. Most people would NEVER park a rig our size in site 7. Everyone kept coming over asking how we did it so easily. Hubby did it in one go. Those trees were a true obstacle course. So stick to the easier sites 1-6.

Our car GPS did not take us the right way, but our phone GPS did. The service isn't bad out there, so we were able to keep the phone using Google Maps going, and it took us right there.
There are garbage cans, fire pits, and picnic tables. The spots are fenced in and clearly marked.
It rained nearly the whole time we were there, but we still loved it. There are a lot of trees overhead, so we didn't get a lot out of our solar. Our spot backed up basically right onto the beach (with a fence in between). At low tide, you can go for a nice walk down the beach. Look out for tiny bugs (midges?) that bite. They can get through your screens. My husband looks like he has chicken pox.
A lot of the spots were filled, but it didn't feel crowded, it was super quiet, and we met some very nice people there. There are two short, but pretty trails we ran on. It was an overall very pleasant experience.

We previously camped here in 11-13 when it was known as Grassy Pt Cons. Area & was 1st come, 1st served. Much enjoyed our stay despite frequent no-see-ums
Upon arrival 4PM on 12-1-17 we were surprised & disappointed w/ new rez system. Despite only 2 other rigs present, management said campground, now fenced off into numerous very small campsites, was fully booked for the night ? (must have been late arrivals) & bayou site was tents only, no exceptions ! This has become common practice across FL @ many public camp areas & very often permits not available when office is closed on nights & weekends and/or booked sites go un-used. Too bad. Much preferred the old system

Having come from Grayton Beach and Navarre Beach, I'd say this view was way better. And free! Fire rings, picnic tables, porta potty, and we'll defined and fenced in camping area.
The view of the water is amazing. You basically have to wait until low tide to walk the small beach but it's worth the wait. There are also a couple of walking trails if you're into that. .
The scary part is the road in. Narrow clay dirt road with 18 wheelers and dump trucks working where they are clearing land. Both times I met a truck I was luckily at a place where I could pull off the road a bit.
I would not want to travel that road after a rain. In fact I left a day early because the forecast called for rain on the day I was schedule to leave.
I'm adding this one to my favorites. One of the best dry camping sites ive stayed.

This is a great free spot in the panhandle of Florida. It is about 25 mins from Navarre and Santa Rosa island. Site number 4 is the biggest and probably the best chance for generating solar. The nats are bad when there is no wind, luckily there is usually a breeze keeping them away. Like others have said, make sure to reserve a spot online at fwc.com
