We needed a spot for a quick overnight to visit family. There was trash and parked cars in random places. It was going to be very difficult to get into any of the spots. Utilities appeared sub-par after checking the shore power before deciding if we would stay. We did a hard pass and left. Very disappointing.
This is the place to stay to be close to down town Nashville, only 3-4 miles away. Campsites are lined parking spaces in a parking lot like camping area. Newer hookups in an overgrown grassey area, we had to search for the sewer connection. Registration is convoluted, requiring online form, and can take two days for response. Finding the campground is a challenge as there is no signage. The water was brown so we didn’t use it. But still, reasonable price and location overrides the negatives.
Tried to make a reservation for spring of 2022 for a convention downtown. Was informed that they no longer will take any reservation requests for dates outside an event at the fairgrounds. No mention of this on the web site, thanks for wasting my time.
Want to be extra near to downtown Nashville? Like, able-to-afford a Lyft close? Or maybe even ride your bike to the strip close?
The Fairgrounds can provide you that.
Parking at the fairgrounds can also provide you with full-hook-ups and all the excitement of a Nascar race or County Fair - if you're lucky enough to be parked there for one. We weren't - but we did get to enjoy the noise from a 'learning to drift driving course' which took place on the race track the weekend we stayed and a reptile and gun show in the buildings just beyond where we were parked.
Anyways, this place is compromised of 2-3 separate parking lot areas (we've been here twice, one time there were 2 areas open, the next there were 3), all with full-hook-ups. One is up a rather steep, but short grade and is very near to the car race track and expo buildings. (We stay here - it feels safest and is furthest from traffic). The sites are back in and are not all level. Also, pulling into this area is a bit janky in a larger rig. Very workable though, and almost every rig that pulled in was 35+ feet.
The other parking areas are down the hill. One is across the street near to a mobile DUI tank. We saw a few smaller camping units parked down there. Another is across the street from the DUI tank - there are about 10 spots here.
And that's all there is. Black-top, garbage cans, hook-ups (50A + sewer + water), and some lines to denote separate parking spaces.
We were here in October and then in November and had to hunt down a person to pay our fees; otherwise, we didn't see any management for the camping areas. Most folks that pulled in only stayed for a night or two before departing. There are a few rigs that appear pretty permanent, but no loud partying or anything.
Verizon towers seemed a bit overloaded both in November 2016, and in October 2017. AT&T was fine.
Over all, it's pretty noisy and you are surrounded by various roads/traffic/activities. BUT, it is so very close to all the attractions of Nashville - so if that is what you are looking for, then this might be 'your place'.
Way below our expectations. Noisy and jammed together. Yes, it’s the closest you’ll get to Broadway, but that’s the only reason it gets two stars. Think twice before staying here.
Made reservations in advance by filling out application, which was confirmed the next day. Stopped by the “security” guard on the way in, could not have been less friendly or helpful to guide us to the RV area. Backed into an open spot then called the host as instructed in the confirmation email. The host told us the sites were overbooked even though we arrived to two open spots. I explained that we already backed into an open spot and he said again that it is overbooked and asked if we were self contained. I mentioned that we needed electric and he said one of the sites isn’t working and that he’d be back in about an hour to work something out with us. We decided to find other accommodations since it was unclear if we would have a spot or not. Recommend avoiding this place altogether. We found a nice family campground about 20 min outside of the city for $5 more than we were going to pay at the fairgrounds. I have stayed at fairgrounds before that were great, but this experience was terrible.
This place creeped us out a bit. We did not see anyone from the Fairgrounds for days (to say hi, pay...you know, the normal things). Our neighbors looked like they might have been living there for quite some time, possibly for free, we noticed them packing up the trash bins for the place one morning. The fairgrounds are very close to town and the 12South neighborhood which was a huge plus for us. We would only stay here again if we were looking for a quick, convenient one day stop to explore Nashville.
The fairgrounds were clean enough. No bathroom but full hook ups. A little pricier than I usually like to pay at $35/night, especially being what it was. Still, we were close enough to explore Nashville.
Site was quiet, other than the train we could hear but not see. We stayed in th area closest to the speed way. Pretty much fenced in and looked a lot better than the sites across the street.
If we didn’t seek out how to pay, we wouldn’t have needed to. No one came by to check. This was offseason and midweek with no events happening, so that might have been why. Of course, we did pay because karma and all that.
22 full service sites. Close to downtown One RV lives here full time who works at fairgrounds so seemed safe enough.
Close to town to catch a cheap Uber but it’s just a parking lot. It does have full hookups but the first spot we pulled into our circuit breaker showed “open ground” so we moved to the next spot over. After the camphost came gathering our cash (cash or check only), we never saw her again. We felt safe and there was a Exotic Pet Expo at the grounds that we checked out but $35 is way overpriced. This should be less than $20.
